hate to bump a thread, but how are folks doing with the CEL situation, still popping up i suspect? Anyone try spacing the downstream O2 sensor out a bit more?

Anyone with one that is bummed out about the CEL and looking to sell?

You need a couple drive cycles to go from a pending code to an active one with a CEL.

I'm not sure on a BMW but most times one drive cycle is a key on and engine up to operating temperature. They may require one, two or three drive cycles with a pending code to trigger a light.

I don't get a CEL on track either, but a day or two later I will. My guess is that on track, the exhaust gasses are heating up the Cat to peak performance mode and thus is doing a great job cleaning up. In normal day to day driving, it doesn't heat up nearly as much. And like someone else said it takes a few cycles for it to trigger the light.

Hi,
We do not offer O2 extenders, i will be more than happy to offer you the Fabspeed

It wont be a trade in, since the Wagner downpipe like most other downpipes do not give you a no CEL guarantee.

Wagner Downpipe - JB4 Cleared CEL

I put on the catted Wagner downpipe a little over a week ago and got a CEL within 100 miles. I have a Burger Motorsports JB4 unit that I used to read the code. It states there is a "catless downpipe detected". I simply delete the code and all is well. There is no discernible performance degradation with the CEL, just the light on the dash. The CEL has come on a total of 3 times since I installed the downpipe about 300 miles ago and will go several days of me daily driving the car before I get another CEL. But each time the CEL illuminates, the JB4 reads the code as "catless downpipe detected". I delete the code and move on.

On the positive side, the fitment of the Wagner downpipe is spot on. It fits the OEM area perfectly. And it sounds awesome! It has a nice burble on decel and has a noticeable growl accelerating - SWEET SOUND! There is also a noticeable "seat of the pants dyno" performance increase. My uneducated guess is a 10% (?) increase in power. Wishful thinking? lol

FYI - I also have the Wagner performance intercooler installed. This also has perfect fitment. It fits like a glove! I installed this a few days before installing the downpipe, but not CEL or noticeable performance increase with this unit alone.

NOTE: I've had the Burger Motorsports JB4 unit installed for about 6 months with no adverse affects and maybe a little performance bump. But coupled with the Wagner downpipe and intercooler, the performance increase and exhaust tone is sweet! The JB4 has a nice app I've downloaded to my android phone to look at all the conditions of the engine (temps, boost pressure, maps, etc. etc.).

We always recommend the Fabspeed downpipe with Jb4 users and Wagner with flash users

This is my question as well, seems to be a no-brainer, and the simplest solution by far. There must be some issue with doing this or everyone would be talking about it.

Can anyone speak to the quality of the CELLS themselves in the Wagner? My salesman at Fabspeed is making it out to be a huge quality difference between Wagner and Fabspeed, like the Wagner will eventually fall apart, and the Fabspeed will last as long as the factory cat and has a much better warranty.

I don't care about the CEL, I'm getting BM3 anyway, what I care about is quality. But if they both have identical internals, there is no reason to get the Fabspeed over the Wagner if you're getting a tune, right?

Can someone speak to this? Are the really identical inside just because they are Euro 6?

I have no technical knowledge whether they are or not but the insides of the Wagner above look very similar to the Fabspeed guts.

I have tried a downstream extension but still get CEL daily. On the other hand the fit, finish and performance is spot on. I did install the Wagner Competition 1 FMIC and was very impressed with its fit and function.
