The GTS was nothing special to
Most of us, there are so many out there that are almost like brand new and nobody wants them. Lol

M2c is plenty for me, my first and last true sports car (6th bmw)

Just 80% throttle puts a grin on my face, I could see how some others want more power more speed but around here on northeast roads it'll be such a waste

This is going to replace the M240i Racing. BMW Motorsport will be releasing for customer purchase in the near future.

So everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, I don't see how the introduction of additional powerful M2 models is 'diluting' the M brand.

Sticking a 'M' badge on the side of every BMW - I would agree that is diluting the brand.

I don't believe I ever read a comment from a Porsche enthusiast stating that there are too many flavors of 911.

Difference being that BMW has or had recently like 9 or 10 ///M models, some of which are diluted even further:

M1
M2
M3
M4
M5
M6
M8
X3M
X4M
X5M
X6M

Several have had Competition, CS, GTS, etc.

The PTG E36 prebuilt bodies that I saw in the shop from BMW had solid piping reinforcements welded to the shell before paint. They were more than production bodies w/CF slapped on.

I see your point.

BMW just makes too many models focused on the enthusiast. Perhaps the new CEO will put an end to all this nonsense and just make garden-variety sedans and coupes. Let Audi and M-B and Jaguar go after all those who want a more hardcore vehicle.

I agree. Too many variations.
///M is completely whoring it out.

Very unfortunate.
it's raining hi-po m2s and you're upset? IMO, they can do whatever they want with the ///M badges on series cars if it means more of this.

Everyone can quit whining about too many variants. This is not a M2 GTS testing.

M2 Racing for BMW Motorsport customer racing program(aka not street legal).

I agree, I do not see where having more options is a bad thing. I think its great that BMW doesn't introduce an M model and then just rest there. A "base" model M car is still an incredible car even if there is a CS, or GTS, or something like that out there. Just gives more options to fit what you want to use the car for. M5 bases are still being bought even though the Comp is available. People started seeing the M4 GTS for what it really is - a hell of an option for a more track focused car. I love my wife's X5M - holds the kids & all their junk while still being fun to drive. Even if it is just a cosmetic change - if it brings that much more enjoyment to the driver it is still a good thing imo. It doesn't water down the fact that an M car is typically still an amazing car to drive - from the "base" model all the way up to whatever alphabet coded car they come up with next.

+ the M2 Racing is pure awesome

My theory is the people crying about higher-end M cars are upset because they can't (or don't want to) afford them. Their fragile egos seem to take a hit when they realize they don't have the "ultimate" M model of their car. Thus they craft weak explanations of M dilution.

M2 is a successful M model. Affordable for many enthusiasts. If there is demand for more powerful/ special variants, why not offer them?
Same receipt applied by Porsche..
And a total track dedicated car shows the potential of this platform 👍
