First track session I enjoyed Sport Throttle and Sport Plus Steering. I left DSC on; track was freshly paved, 40'F starting temp on Cup2's, and first session in the car. It actually let me hang the rear end out more than I expected and didn't feel like it held me back a lot.
I want to get some camber plates asap as I wore the outside edges of the front tires a decent amount. I'm also leaning towards a TCKline Coilover setup in the future as I've had my TCK setup on my E46 M3 for over 7 years and it's been perfect.

Great thread!
I will definitely try the traction mode at the track. I didn't want to try it because of the comfort throttle response and steering. For the throttle response I guess I can buy one of these pedal tuners and fine tune how I like it. For the steering, I may just try comfort as you guys seem to like it on the track. However there is something I don't like about traction mode : it increases the burbles. Any way not to have that? |

Fine for experienced drivers, whether that is location experience, track day experience, and/or M2C experience. But not fine for beginners.
I have run DSC off at times but mostly use MDM mode on an unfamiliar track. That may hide a true tail out mistake but it helps avoid a big incident and doesn't seem to hamper performance, tail out nature, or control. On a skid pad, I did find the M2C easy to learn full DSC off, but you're on your own to reign back in... I also mostly run in sport steering (for familiarity) and sport throttle (to avoid it being to touchy).

I use MDM and i don't notice any real limitations; and i'm sure it's helped me correct on a few turns. Once i have had the car for another year or so i'll use DSC off but for now i'm more concerned about getting the car into the dirt than i am track time.

There is no doubt in my mind that it does hamper performance, but it depends on a number of factors - all of which are related to traction (of course). When it triggers, it will reduce acceleration when you're accelerating over a bump in a straight line which was, to me, the most noticeable reduction in performance situation.

DSM off I notice the car pulls much harder coming out of corners. I tracked in sport+ for 3 years, noticed a big difference changing to dsm off. I like it. Wish I would have made the change a year earlier. Think it was good to initially learn in sport+.

Sport+ would be full DSC on. A short press of the trac-off button is a traction control off/DSC limited mode. A long press would be DSC full off. Which did you use? Note M2 Comps allow individual sport+ settings and the DSC limited mode is called MDM allowing some oversteer before intervening.
