Blind Spot Sensors...?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Soooooo.... I've noticed the triangles in the mirrors but I've yet to see them come on for the cars in my blind spots. Anyone have information on if these are just a carry over from the M3/M4'S with no functionality?

I do not believe blind spot warning is available on the OG M2 or M2C. On the BMW USA website, it's not listed in the Safety/Security specs.

Not on the M2. I had it on my Lexus, idk, my wife loved it but I never cared for it. I always turn my head or lean in....

My car has the lane departure and blind spot features. Are you sure you have activated them? Two buttons in the area under the light controls

You mean collision warning and lane departure. AFAIK M2C not fitted with blind spot monitoring. The empty triangles on the mirror is a carry over from the M4 mirrors production moulding.

Thanks haven't managed to really play with the car as it's being detailed. Will do today. Remember seeing two buttons one looked similar to my 335 blind spot detection, hence the confusion

Personally I could not believe they didn't fit the blind spot monitoring. I suspect that the BS monitoring requires extra sensors where collision and lane are part of the sensor under the mirror. Pure cost cutting imo.

Good that they don't have it.

More sensors = more point of failures = more $$$ when warranty is out

Had never relied on these tech in the past. My other 1 series is already giving me sensor errors every now and then...

So I get that the triangles aren't functional in the M2C but suppose I got the electronic module and installed it somehow... Would I be able to code it somehow (bootmod3?)

Or is that functionality not available in the 2 Series operating system?

OMG, I wish that I never read this post! haha

I have never cared for the blind spot sensor, BUT now that I know that the triangle is there and that it doesn't function...ahhhhh!

I have this OCD thing where I can't stand things like blank buttons and non-functional items.

Yea, I guess I would be slightly annoyed by this missing blind spot feature but I believe the blank Adaptive Suspension button would tick me off more, on a daily basis..

Someone needs to do something creative with that blank switch..

You're car doesn't have blind spot, those are just the same mirrors on all the F8X chassis vehicles

Bump to this post. Has anyone figured out what to do with the middle, non-functioning button? At the very least, I want to put a sticker on it to satisfy my OCD. :-)
