With my M2 I went from stock to all the bolt ons + the inlet straight away. Car felt more responsive over oem, no noticeable lag etc. Also have a gfb dv+ but not sure it’s needed on DCT m2. My car runs solid on stage 2 93 with shell 99. With the e30 map I run shell 99 with a little ethanol to equal around e20, timing is clean with no corrections. However that is on the limit of my oem HPFP. Next step would be to fit the original b58 HPFP I have for a small increase in volume and maybe see where the oem turbo can really do. |

Hello.
Did experience some missfires for the first time, first drive of the year. Did a pull on 2:nd a 3:rd gear, around 5000rpm on 3:rd gear i felt some missfire. later that day i connected the app to do some logs, found a superknock code and some cylinder shutdown. Anyway did some logs yesterday, cool ambient temp. https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5e9b...729b04ce7336fc https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5e9b...729b05541b79be Maybe the fuel aged over the winter lost some octane ?. (it’s been in the garage for 5 months with a full tank of vpower 98 oct) Fuelpressure drops, lambda spikes and knock detected are in the logs, but i’m not sure whats starting this chain of reactions in the logs. Would be great if someone with more experience could give there thoughts on the matter. Mods. 5.8 bm3 stage 2 93 oct. downpipe, mpe burger intake. do88 Intercooler. Vpower98 gas , should be atleast 93ron. |

The OTS 93 map is not for 93 Ron, it’s for 93 AKI (RON + MON / 2) used in the US. Despite what is commonly thought, there is no easy way to convert between the two without knowing both values.
Most European logs show that your premium / super fuel is better than US 93 AKI, but perhaps not if it’s degraded over 5 months...

I reckon it would have gone off if left that long. Take a long easy cruise and use it all up and get some fresh fuel. Also, imo the BM3 stg2 91 map is really good on vpower! Much more low down torque and only loses out on the last 200 rpm up high, compared to stg2 93. Also, I get regularly get a maf reading of 43.4lbs/min on the 91 map. The most I've seen on the 93 map (same fuel) is 43.3. So the power between the two is virtually identical (given that 1lbs/min = ~10bhp), but the torque is on another level with the 91 map. |

I have to wonder about gas quality going forward. I recall OPEC+ not wanting to cut production, and USA and other countries saying they're filled up in fuel storage. There was a deal recently where all but Mexico cut production (mexico did but at a smaller amount than everyone else). They don't want to cut production because puts people out of work and less income for the businesses. None of that is important for this convo... I'm just wondering if gas will go bad being in storage. It's something to keep an eye on, with logs and all that, and possibly run a lesser tune until things are better.
I'm reading gas will last around 6 months in storage before losing combustibility. So it's be worth keeping an eye on how many cars are on the road and the fuel company news, as well. To see if storage gas is being used, new gas is being purchased, the state of the storage tanks, etc. |

Great that you were able to get the MON value for V Power in the UK. Sadly that doesn’t mean that it’s the same in Sweden. In the US, it’s really hard to find the MON and RON values, but I read a document talking about how a US nationwide move to 95 RON was being proposed at one point, and the motion failed because several states, including California, wouldn’t be able to produce 95 RON at the same time as the other environmental restrictions already in place.
Apparently, the most important factor for forced induction and high compression engines, is sensitivity, which is equal to RON - MON. Your V Power quote was 13, which is really really good. If we assume that CA fuel, which is struggling to achieve 95, so let’s say 94 RON, it would have a sensitivity of 6 (RON 94, MON 88) to achieve its pump rating of 91 AKI. This is the reason why CA and US fuel in general sucks, it’s not only the RON or MON but the sensitivity as well. The best fuel is one with a high RON and high sensitivity apparently.

Regarding my issues with bad logs and missfire, It was the fuel.
Talked to some local tuners and it's not uncommon that gas degrades during that timeframe and more so due to 5% ethanol in the gas. Turns out vpower isn't the best premium fuel in sweden so i switched to another brand. |
