Meh. Looks cool but if it’s over $70k may as well get a M3/4. Much better spacious interior with the same motor.

And why not just call it a CS? Seems strange to call it competition when ‘competition’ is currently just a package in the m3/4/5/6. Too much inconsistency.

Hockenheim Silver is more of a classic BMW Silver. Lighter in consistency than Pure Metal Silver. More classic than any recent Silver on an M car. Expected to be available on the M8 too.

I highly doubt the reason for the 1M having a worse drag coefficient is solely because of the mirrors.

I also highly doubt BMW would put mirrors with worse aero on their M cars... E36 M, E9x M, F8x all have the double prong.

it was an audio presentation about the car.. done back in 2016. It's among these forums..

Drag coefiicients for most BMW models are printed right on the media info.. so you can check 228 vs M235/M240 vs M2 easily too see that CD increases.
Power increases dramatically.. which overcomes the higher Cd in the wild.

I see the drag is higher on M3 but it generates much less lift in my link. So there are definitely reasons behind the designs of M cars other than looks.

Agree! but when the manufacturer says.. we didn't do M Mirrors on this car # CAUSE HIGHER Cd and then customers still WANT them... ?
then at that point.. for the CUSTOMER.. it's all about the STYLE RIGHT? See where this train is coming from?

As it is.. this next iteration WILL have more M POWAH.. so..

Not trying to prove anything. I also noted the M mirrors in my last post. Like Previously stated, would be interested to see if they they change the front end

Is it possible that BMW will use new DME encryption on the S55 in this to keep it crippled?

I'm highly tempted to sell mine for this, but not unless it can be tuned to M3/4 levels of performance

Looks like they did, look at the lower part of the front spoiler of both. And placement of the tow hook covers

I agree,why would anyone think they haven’t drastically changed the design of the kidney grilles and front bumper.They are both a totally different shape and according to Gatte who posted the picture the kidneys are attached in the middle like the new M5.
