The recent DriveTribe article about the M2 CS posted by facilitator of instant media entertainment 'Shmee150' (with forum member 'MR.' as almost certainly his ghostwriter) mentioned:
"The setup is similar to what BMW did with the E46 BMW M3 CS launched in 2005. The CS in question stands for "Competition Sport", and this meant performance enhancements, such as different 19" wheels and tires, new suspension setup, dramatically bigger brakes, a faster steering ratio (14.5:1), a less intrusive handling Nanny, Alcantara steering wheel and hand brake covers, aluminium interior trim and optional Interlagos Blue paint."
Due to this particular way of phrasing, some forum members, and likely many other readers, may understand this as if BMW would offer Interlagos Blue metallic paint as a color option for the forthcoming M2 CS (although that won't happen and undoubtedly Shmee150 didn't mean it that way either):

Here's a breakdown of the colours for the UK market.

The article goes on to list the same colours in this thread for the M2 CS.
However, as also as7920 correctly pointed out, it's just a reference to a color paint option for the 'E46 M3 CS', which was produced for the UK market only from December 2004 till May 2006 (only 275 cars). BMW dubbed the UK market version of the E46 M3 Competition Package (ZCP) 'E46 M3 CS'.

See here:
What is the E46 M3 Competition Package?
The Competition Package, known by the internal designation "ZCP", was introduced in December of 2004 as an option for the E46 M3 coupe. It consisted of the following equipment (most of which is derived from that of the limited-production M3 CSL):
-Cross-drilled brake rotors (enlarged to 13.7 inches in front) with two-piece compound rotors (aluminum hat and outer portion connected by steel pins)
-Steering ratio reduced to 14.5:1
-M Track Mode setting for Dynamic Stability Control (raises—but does not eliminate—the threshold at which the DSC intervenes)
-19-inch cross-spoke alloy wheels (8x19-inch front, 9.5x19-inch rear)
-Alcantara-wrapped M three-spoke steering wheel with M Track Mode activation button (audio and cruise control buttons deleted)
-Specific aluminum interior trim with milled effect
-Exclusive Interlagos Blue metallic (A30) paint option

What is the E46 M3 CS?
The right-hand drive version of the E46 M3 coupe with the Competition Package sold in the United Kingdom was officially given the "M3 CS" designation. However, this model does not contain "M3 CS" badging of any kind, nor does it differ from its left-hand drive "ZCP" counterpart in any significant way.

How many examples of the E46 M3 coupe with Competition Package were produced?
BMW produced a total of 3,011 E46 M3 coupes with the optional Competition Package (ZCP). The breakdown by model type is as follows: BL91 = 326 examples, BL92 (designated as the M3 CS in the United Kingdom) = 275 examples, BL93 = 2,410 examples.

Color and Upholstery Selections
[COLOR NAME] Interlagos Blue metallic | [CODE] A30 | [MODEL AVAILABILITY] BL91 (ZCP only), BL92 (CS only), BL93 (ZCP only) | [PRODUCTION PERIOD] 12/2004 through 05/2006

Even Ford find a way to do some nice colours. 350 bhp for£36000 makes the base M2 look expensive

Yes, but hmmm isn't the RS limited at launch to:-

nice blue Nitros v LBB
grey
black
white

.....with a run out model about to get one further (nice red).

Sounds familiar and not sure how this is better than the M2 options as to me it's identical. Apols if I've missed an obvious difference, agree that the colours are great, I love Nitros. The shell seat option too is very nice indeed.

I'd still not take it. 2 people that bought RS Fords had blowing gaskets and smoking engines. Both are waiting for new engines as of now. Seems to be a common issue reported on Ford forums with engine problems between first 1-20k kms.

Same goes with new Alfas Quadrifoglio. It broke down after 3.5k km and is still undiagnosed after 3 months of being at the Warsaw Service Center which in turn is in direct contact with Turin. Also this shit happens
One Alfa QF has already been qualified for replacement, press QF is "unavailable" and Stelvio is overheating.
This makes M2 rock solid in comparison.

Liking the thought of Orange with matching stitching, but also thinking of HS matt wrapped, like I did with my MG car. I get complements everywhere on the "frozen look". Would look pretty wicked on a real light silver.

181 individual votes so far:
  • 12 out of 181 = 6.63%: Alpine White
  • 14 out of 181 = 7.73%: Black Sapphire Metallic
  • 21 out of 181 = 11.60% Long Beach Blue Metallic
  • 56 out of 181 = 30.94%: Sunset Orange Metallic
  • 78 out of 181 = 43.09%: Hockenheim Silver Metallic
Amazing finding: an all-new BMW color that no-one over here has ever seen yet, is leading the poll right from the start: Hockenheim Silver Metallic.

I also voted for HS (and no, I don't know how HS looks, but both my E46 M3s were silver). My second choice would be BSM.

Only colour I wouldn't choose of these is Long Beach Blue.

Depending on how Sunset Orange looks on the M2 and how dull (i.e. bronze) it goes in overcast conditions will depend how high up my list it would go.

My 1M was black and it's a great colour for these cars.

I think ANY sort of silver looks naff. Most of the cars on the road are silver, and most of those that aren't are white ! Yellow, orange or LBB for me.

This is just more evidence of how BMW buyers are desperate for a new color palette.

My search for Hockenheim Silver at the IAA 2017 ended up with empty hands. Such a color was not shown on the show floor anywhere.

Sunset Orange was available on a 220d and I hated it. Hockenheim Silver it is for me now, although I do not have a clue how the color looks.

I was told it does not look like the E46 M3 CS silver, but nobody cold them what the color really like looked like.

Somebody enterprising on here should buy 1,000 of the Hockenheim silver touch up sticks available on the net and a wreck and then paint it!!
This could likely be achieved before BMW gives us any more info....yawn yawn BMW!

Ah that's a shame. My favourite BMW colour. Silver Grey.

Time to order a paint repair kit?

We still got no clue about that mystery silver.

But when staying in E46 M3 Land: if it ain't as dark as Silver Grey metallic (BMW paint code A08) then it will likely be closer to Titanium Silver metallic (BMW paint code 354).

First E46 M3's had Steel Grey which was darker still. Itself a great colour. But then that's grey!

Hockenheim Silver is still in the lead, ahead of Long Beach Blue.

From hindsight, I guess Scott26 referred in this post of Summer 2014 to "Sunset Orange" and "Long Beach Blue":
