M2C don't have the black ring strut top re-inforcements - only F8x M3/M4 have these...

Bee Pee, noting your interest in keeping it OEM, is this something you did?

Hmm... I wonder if the carbon bit is necessary as someone else was mentioning here. Maybe just the alloy part and the additional side braces. and reinforcement ring are needed to get a good result. Then hunting for a gutted M3/4 to take the carbon brace from might be worth it.

Maybe someone with more knowledge would know if this piece being installed would require the car getting an alignment after the work is done. I mainly ask becuase to install Part 31302285700 you would have to undo some bolts in the strut tower.

You're going to have to replace the strut tops to fit the aluminium brace anyway, so undoing the mounting bolts on the strut tower isn't really a concern.

I'm considering installing alloy and CF brace parts to my OG M2 and installed the black strut rings on my m135i

That’s disappointing.

No big deal cheap and easy diy to retrofit if these are a must have on M2

I'm wondering the same thing. I think it will interfere with the larger Dinan airbox and MAF housing. Will probably clear the Dinan CF air tube though.

So I installed the entire setup, and I have the DINAN intake. honestly the carbon brace sits on top of the box at 2 points, but it doesn’t seem to interfere with anything. It clears the carbon tube and maf housing no problem you will however have to remove the little attachment bracket that is on the underside of the brace on the driver side. I sourced a used carbon section from a wrecked M3 at a great price from eBay.

Nice to hear. Got any pics that show the clearance of the CF brace?

For anyone that has done this are new strut mounts needed for the M2 when retrofitting the M3/M4 brace?
Thanks
Mike

RealOEM says yes, then there are the pictures in the 1st post showing three bolts going through the alloy brace into the strut top on each side. The M2 has a single mount hole in each strut top for the standard steel brace.

Not sure I saw anyone with this combo but I have GC camber plates installed and was wondering if I would be able to retain those if I wanted to get this brace installed?

The camber plates have the studs coming up from the plates vs the bolts you put down into the top hats as an FYI for anyone who hasn't dealt with them.

I'm fairly sure GC do camber plates for the M2C? So it's possible, it just depends what you've got fitted.

If you have GC CP's with single bolt attachment to stock strut brace then you will need to talk to GC about changing these out. Looking at GC website, CP's for OG M2 don't look like they have the fixings to mount the F8x M2C/M3/M4 alloy brace, as part of alloy firewall + CFRP U brace combo.

OP, I noticed you’ve retained the OEM front corner braces?

I’ve been gathering the parts to carry out this conversion based on bluebro’s post on the uk babybmw form, which omitted the front corner braces and replaced the Front slam panel with one from the M3/M4

Which car are you fitting this to? The front slam panel appears to be the same for both M2 and M2C. So that could save some time and effort.

M2 LCI, I’ve not checked the part numbers yet on realoem to see if they are actually different.

I’ve got all the parts with the exception of the top hats, bolts and the front upper rad support if it’s needed that is.

Noting that I've removed the steel strut brace, have all the bolts, fitted the top hats, set the rivnuts, and (given that I'm obsessive) have the correct plastics, I'm looking for some dry weather to fit the rest.

Not driving it atm obvs...

Interested to see/hear how you get on with the rest of the conversion
