It makes me super uncomfortable.
I agree with you. I dont condone racing in the street either, but dont like thinking of someone being able to tape you and the police using it against you. This video is seems pretty clear cut, but what if they caught something else on tape out of context, like what may look like road head, can i get arrested for that and be charged as a sex offender?

In chicago, even the speed cameras have been found to have issues so what used to be incontestable is now thrown out almost automatically if you contest.

Everyone around here also accelerates to prevent people from merging or getting over thus making congestion around here that much worse.

I don't do that though and think that people who do it are assholes (or just Maryland drivers, they just instinctively do that and should be banned from driving on public roads). I can easily hop on a country backroad that's empty and not full of residential houses, slap the car in sport mode and see what the car is capable of. Even better, I can also do it at local auto-x events and at nearby Summit Point race track.

Swerving like that without signaling and cutting off cars makes you an asshole, sorry. And if you don't realize it and justify it by "a lot of people do it" would also make you clueless. Since a lot of people do this too, I guess it's cool right?

Theres a fine line between assholes speeding up at prevent merging and assholes that merge whenever they want. In my area, there are plenty of people that think that just because they put on their turn signal for a sec, they can go wherever they want regardless of if there is a car there or not.

I think that if I have to brake (more than just lightly) for the guy to merge in, ill speed up to the next car, that'll give the merging guy plenty of space to get in behind me. Most of the time, this seems to happen when there is no one behind me anyways so he should be the one to wait. It bothers me even more when i let those guys merge in and they dont keep up with the flow of traffic. Point is that it takes 2 to cause traffic.

I disagree with the idea that almost every driver of a high performance vehicle drives like an ass every so often. I don't get the appeal of weaving in and out of traffic without so much as bothering to signal, any more than wearing a giant orange sign that says "look at me, I'm a tool". And I'm not even old, I just want to be safe and respectful to others. If I want to do some lively driving I'll go to the track, take a spin up the canyon, or at least wait until nobody is around.

Anyone driving like that during rush hour traffic is asking for problems.

Great there goes my summer! My mom sent me this video and even said this ruins it for the classy BMW drivers. Both my parents have BMWs.

In Germany he would not have been considered speeding but in America slow drivers drive in all lanes and those going around them look like bad speeding law breakers which end up going to jail for reckless driving. Day and night difference between laws in America and Germany also between speed limit laws. I prefer German laws and highways over the American ones. Better drivers and better speed limits.

Here's a thought...the moron causes a multi-car accident. Your wife, child , relative, etc. DIES because of his stupidity. So all the Fast-n-Furious types out there, young or old, give that a thought. CAN'T BE DEFENDED so just a heart felt thought. No one is actually Superman and can't die in an instant. Don't care if you're the best driver in the world. Just think about the actual thought of someone you love dies because of this. Now...how do you feel? That sh*t hits home harder than anything you can imagine. We all think it will never happen to US. Well...think again.

MASSAPEQUA PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Police on Long Island have arrested a Bronx man for allegedly racing his BMW upwards of 100 mph on the Long Island Expressway.

As CBS2’s Tony Aiello reported, police said they were able to identify the suspect because a second BMW driver posted it all on social media. The shocking video had police and other drivers outraged.

The video, posted on YouTube and Facebook, showed at least two drivers speeding between lanes, careening in and out of the high-occupancy vehicle lane, and racing along the LIE mid-morning last week.

“He’s operating that vehicle, by our estimates, in the neighborhood of 100 miles an hour, and he’s not a professional driver,” said Nassau County Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter. “And if he makes a mistake, then people are going to die. That’s depraved indifference.”

From the social media postings, police said they tracked down the owner of the blue BMW – identified as Darran Anderson, 23 – outside his Bronx home. Police said they also confiscated his vehicle there.

“He’s a poster child. If you look at his driving history, he has an open speeding ticket in the Bronx, and he has a number of other violations,” Krumpter said.

Krumpter said Anderson is facing only misdemeanor charges because state lawmakers have been unable to agree on measures upgrading reckless speeding to a felony.

“He’s really a dangerous person,” said Millie Palumbo of Wantagh.

Meanwhile, Nassau County residents told CBS2 they are fed up with drivers who use the highway as a racetrack, and place other drivers at risk of a serious collision.

“It’s terrible that other people will be involved in an accident because of his irresponsible way of living,” Palumbo said.

Police said they believe at least three drivers were racing as they headed for a car show at a Nassau County dealership, including the passenger, who posted the video and can be seen briefly in the side mirror.

“That second individual, the one who is posting this video, we are very close to identifying him,” said Nassau County Police Detective Sgt. Patrick Ryder.

Police said they will now move to seize Anderson’s BMW under the county’s forfeiture law – even as the search continues for the person who posted the high-speed highway race.

If convicted of reckless endangerment, Anderson could face up to a year in jail. His next court appearance is July 16.
If it's illegal don't post it on Social Media everyone have fun driving some people drive at 55 or 60 MPH and drive even worst than that on the LIE some people don't even look when they're switching lanes

I have about my opinions on these idiots.
1. Take that $hit to the track!
2. At some point somebody is going to get hurt
3. A bad enough wreck that you kill another driver you WILL be going to jail
4. 90% of all drivers really have NO CLUE as to what their car is capable of
5. Life is NOT "NEED FOR SPEED" video games there is no RESET

The video with the car in California(guessing) going around a corner, OMG thats just plain pathetic on how many can't drive the car!

As a BMW CCA Driving Instructor I beg people that do this, PLEASE come to a HPDE and learn at least go to a "Street Survival School" put on by BMW CCA.

I "think" most people are upset not at his speed but his weaving in and out.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in Europe if you see (and people do look in their review mirrors) someone coming up on you fast you move out of the way. Instead of like some in the US that not only camp in the left lane but will slow down, cut you off, etc. to make a statement that you should not be driving in a manner they feel is incorrect.

This is not only about the driver. What about the people they scare the crap out of and react in a way that causes harm, e.g. slam on brakes. That causes an accident long after they speeder/weaver is long gone down the road.
