What's Dynamat?
How do you remove the side panels to gain access there?

Thanks very much to doing the legwork on these!! GregoryK

@GregoryK

He's right, this door strip was missing on my 2016 235i, I replaced it but I really can't say if it makes a difference but some people claim that it does.. Be warned, it was pricey, I paid $50 for each side... Keep us updated..

From what I have seen so far is most of the removed insulation is in the back. There is a piece on the firewall that would be impossible to replace (in one piece anyway) without taking the dash apart completely!
I have not played with the doors yet but I notice in the "Body" section of RealOEM that the insulation is shown for the doors. For some reason they do not show it in the "insulation" section. So the doors are likely as "quiet" as the F22.

I'm not a big user of this stuff. I tend to use a local rubber backed foam product. The stuff I contact cemented in that hole in the pic. If you don't mind spending the money the original part is best to fill that hole. I'm only using Dynamat because I have it and don't want to wait for 2 weeks for the real part.

To remove the side panel out you pull forward both the bolsters (they come off) then pull the panel from the bottom up. It just pops of - pull from the front to the back. You need to remove the "threshold" strips before doing this. They pull up from the front to the back.

Back insulation done! You have to detach all the wiring. Then slid the insulation under and clip it back. Took about 4 hours total. I wanted to do it right. Also it was snowing for some of it!

As I said in one of my previous posts the Dynamat over those holes will kill a lot of high frequency noise from the rear. The proper part would likely do a better job as it is more ridged.

@GregoryK Hey, seriously, great job! I never seen someone actually added back sound deadening but I understand and respect your decision; if the noise doesn't add to any performance, I find it cacophony (waited since college to use that word, finally)...

The db level, are you going to get a post-reading update to confirm its effectiveness?

Good point. RealOEM was wrong in my case. I can't imagine that that is something that would get missed during assembly.
I'll contact my dealer and fly it up the flagpole to Germany to find out.

Mate. Take a look at my post on page 6 highlights what parts I ordered. As I said early I have not taken the doors off yet but think they already have the insulation that I ordered.

Too much road noise >>/CadillacForums/Boomers/Floridameetup
Suspension too stiff my god on Alberta's developing nation tier roads this is for the vast majority of driving hours a non issue
My left leg hurts Literally the lightest clutch I've ever felt
Steering too stiff See post above
Seats too stiff My father recovering from a hip surgery, and loyal to domestics praised their happy medium of sport and comfort

I have a 2017 PE with the performance exhaust. I bypassed the ASD but didn't see a noticeable change. I then had the trunk rear wheel wells and under back seat insulated. That cut the hwy noise by 30-50% as best I can tell. The exhaust noise at 3000 rpm on the road is not acceptable where before it was annoying.

I still have to put the rear seats back. When done I'll do measurements before installing the fender seals.

So much quieter to my ears. Still a little disappointing 78.1db down from 82db all @ 120kph (70mph)
The car is 67.db at idle.
I'm using a crappy app to measure these by.
Honestly was hoping for 72 db!
Still have to do the doors and front though.
Stand by for updates.
