Reviving thread for 2021 season. Has anyone tried out the Falken Azenis RT660s in 275 front/ 305 rears yet?

Interested in knowing this too. From what I've seen so far, the RT660s definitely run on the wide side

Guys, this might be a stupid question... But how much faster are RE71R's vs Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires at autocross events?

I trying to decide if I need dedicated autocross/track wheels/tires.

Probably on the order of close to 1 second faster on a 60 second course...something in that range.

Yea, if you want to be competitive in the dry, you'll need to be on one of the fast 200tw tires. I think the PS4S is one of the better tires for the wet though, so you can justify it by having a wet/street set and a dry set lol

I picked up 2-2.5 seconds on a 55-60 second course after switching to 265/285 RE71Rs from 245/265 stock Michelin PSSs. I haven't tried RE71Rs yet in 40ish degree weather and wet yet. Will get an opportunity as test and tune days starts up here in the PNW on Feb 27.

Someday, maybe, we'll get the new RE-71RS here in the USA.

Will see on the RT660 fronts shortly. Ordered up a set of 275 square from Strano, but 30 front and 35 rear per his advice. Those sizes allow for some stagger while maintaining a good f/r height ratio. Sticking with 19' wheels for now. Hope to have them on in time for the Refrigerator Bowl this month which should expose any fitment problems.

Very curious about the Falkens, but I think I'll be a poor position to judge them vs the RE71R as this car is new to me. Absolutely loved the RE71R for the last 4-5 years on my prior car. Too much different about the M2 to make an apples to apples comparison.

Hey Dean, you had the white 996 right? Assuming the 295/35 would be too tall for the rear. Interested to see how the 275/30 fits up front

The 275/30-19 and 275/35-19 does double the front/rear diameter stagger (from 1.94% larger in the rear to 3.9%). Curious how that feels on course compared to running a 255/35-19 up front. I would assume the 275/30 (on same 9" wheel of course) would be sloppier in transients but hopefully a bit more lateral grip.

Any chance of having a 2nd set of front wheels with 255/35-19s to compare them with?

Yep that's me! Did my buddy Eric buy it from you?

I just sold the GT4 and ended up picking up a CS. I wrote a letter to see if there is any plan to put the CS in a street class, but I doubt it will. I'm not even sure that it even qualifies (not sure if required production numbers are worldwide or US). Worst case I'll play with it locally or keep the NC miata I'm trying to sell and just play with that.

Looking forward to updates as I'm looking at tire size options since RE71Rs are now discontinued.

2NH brakes hampers wheel and tire choices for the M2C in B-Street. Otherwise, I'd use 18" wheels and run A052s in 285/35/18 up front/ 305/35/18 in the rear

All Tirerack will say at the moment is they do not have an ETA on when the RE-71RS will be available. Some have said in the past that the RS wasn't coming to the US in which case Bridgestone will be choosing to leave behind the TW200 competitive market. I find that hard to imagine, but then again, BFG has let the follow-on development of the Rival to apparently die on the vine...

From everyone running 275/35-18 up front on the OG M2, have you had any issues with rubbing at all? The diameter and section width is essentially the same, depending on the tire, for the 275/30-19, so if no issues, then they should fit fine up front too. (stock 9" wheel, stock offset)

I've heard that the M2C has a different fender liner, so I'm not sure if you can make that assumption.

Additional heat exchangers pushes the liner inward more on the M2C. A buddy of mine recently put on 270/30/19 RT660 on Apex EC7s 19x9.5 28offset on an M2C and it fit. He is lowered a bit and has the camber adjustment knuckles as oppose to stock, but I believe added camber doesn't affect where the taller tires usually rubs on the M2C front liner.
