Beautiful OP!
M2 and Corvette are both great choices. Win-win right there... If I am able to stretch my budget a little (past my initial M2 budget), I am eyeing the Grand Sport as a possibility as well. |

Congrats, I have been tossing around the very same idea but I think I will hold out for a while. I really have my heart set on the M2 and I don't "need" it right now but I sure want it. The C7 is a fantastic car period and without a question an amazing bang for the buck proposition. I was telling my wife I want to give my M2 a friend to hang out with when she is done with her residency, that friend is a C7 Z06, I think that will make a pretty nice garage.

Congrats! Thought about getting one of these as well if my M2 fell through. Great looking car.

Wow that's a real performance car! Congrats.
Me neither, probably because BMW(M) used to make real driver's cars with lots of driving dynamics and now that's gone for a couple of years, it came back with the M2? Cheers Robin |

The M2 has been getting universal praise from the media, many of whom have been saying it is a better driver's car than the current M3/M4, and even some saying the M2 will go down as one of BMWs best. It is a successor to the already iconic 1M. It is being sold at a great price. It is the size of cars from back in the day when they weren't so bloated. It comes with the option of a manual which is becoming less common in today's cars.
Why is this so difficult to understand? |

The new vettes are ridiculously hot but I can't picture myself driving one. Maybe because around here, I only see older Italian men driving around in their wife beater tank tops.

No doubt. I own a 1M and would like it to weight less. The M2 coming in heavier, and adding in electronics that I don't want, is an easy decision to stay where I am. I can't drive a car that I can't see out of, and the Vette absolutely is disqualified for that reason. Awesome machines, spent my fair time in the right seat of some and chasing down others on the track as well... |

Whether you get it or not, it's not popular because it sucks.
It's popular because it's god damn awesome! Have you driven one?

I've driven it only for about half an hour. Here's what I've gathered.
Pros: - the thing I was surprised about the most was the exhaust note. It is unquestionably the best exhaust note M currently offers, in my opinion. Better than I expected. - A pro for me, but even in comfort, the slightest acceleration is aggressive and noticeable. - Easily functions as a daily driver. But definitely a sporty drive. - Looks. Tons of stares, smiles, for driving it once at 1 am and once at 8 am. - Size. Perfect. Nothing more to explain. - Wheel spacing. Spacers are not needed IMO. Cons - NONE AT ALL (just kidding) -Sound system is a solid 8/10. Definitely not trash but it's definitely not the best in class. - Halogen turn lights. Really want to replace these with LED bulbs. - No cons yet about the driving, I'm still in break in. I've also never owned a car on this level before. Right now I am on full Kool-aid mode, but rightfully so. This car is not over-hyped, it really does deserve 5/5 stars. The near 3 year obsessive following if this car for me has not come to an end. It has only just begun. If you are thinking about getting an M2, stop thinking about it, just get it. Unless you're like OP which is perfectly understandable because the C7 is a monster in it's own right. That car is also a beast.

I will form my own opinion tomorrow @noon. The day has arrived...not how I planned, but change is normally part of the plan. Anyone around the west-side Cleveland area wanna get a closer look...Lemme know. Test rides maybe too.

Do a video when you replace the grills so that I know how to replace mine when my car arrives? BTW, where did you get the grills? Turner Motorsports charges $265. Apparently you can get them from a BMW dealer for $160. Regardless of price, I wanted to install them myself so that I have a piece of me (hopefully not blood from skinned knuckles) in the car.

The new awesome(not kidding) 718 Boxster S 4 pot 2.5l 350BHP car weighs just 110kgs less than an M2. (1570 vs 1460kgs) It's not only BMW who's gaining weight....
