Need your opinion M2 or M2 Comp

Hi!
I found a M2 preLCI: manual, 5.000km M-performance exhaust, harmann kardon and some extras I dont mind for 55.000€
On the other hand I can get a M2 competition manual with harmann for 67.000€

I dont know what to do... I really love the mp exhaust, but for 12.000€ more I have the new model that should be better...

As an existing M2 owner with an MPE, it's an amazing car. As an existing owner, I find little reason to upgrade. That said, as a new owner, I think you would probably kick yourself if you didn't push a little more and get the M2C. 12k is quite a bump though... interested to hear the views of others.

I didn't do the poll because this is too personal a decision. Only you know what that extra 12K Euros means to you. For some people it's a lot of money and it makes all the difference, and for others 12K is weekend-in-Vegas spending money. If you really want the Competition and the 12K is no big deal, go for it. If you'd be really happy with the M2 and saving that 12K would also allow you to sleep much better at night, then that's the way to go. Only you know what that 12K means to your personal finances and quality of life.

The following is only if you care more about the car itself and not the monetary value.

If you want the experience of a car that has the right amount of power/balance/weight, sounds amazing, looks classically great, with loads of potential on the track, for less money, and will go down in history as the first ever M2 to re-ignite BMW's back to roots car, buy the M2.

If you want the experience of a car that has all the above mentioned criteria with a few caveats like BMW's newest styling design direction, ok/bad sound, heavier compensated with a little bit more power, a bit less balanced that cost quite a bit more and all in all the newest iteration of the OG, buy the M2C.

If you care more about the depreciation or how much the car will be worth X years later, straight line speed and not the balance of a car, how much power you can get out of a tune, and mirrors, please go ahead and buy the M2C.

If you plan on leaving the engine stock just take the standard M2. If you plan on tuning take the C.

Have and love my LCI, but if given the same choice right now as a new buyer - would go for the newer version - in fact almost ordered an M2C. More tuning upside...and all the stuff I didn't like when seeing for the first time has either grown on me (i.e. moustache), or can easily be changed (i.e. horrible wheels)...you are getting quite a lot of value in the M2C for that additional price over the OG M2. Either way the cars are awesome. Depends on your personal situation as many have said. GL!

55k is a lot of money for me, but I can afford it making an effort. It's true that if you are going to spend 55k... and you have the competition for "only" 12k more... that makes you doubt.
The problem is when you don't have reviews of the new car, there are some videos of the sound, but that means nothing, and you need to make a decision soon.

I always wanted one M2, why did bmw have to create this new model? T.T

in a couple years u will kick yourself for not getting the competition.

if you already have an m2, then i'd say you're fine unless you really need that extra HP

This is an obvious personal decision but 12k is ~20% more than the OG M2. Is the comp 20% more car to you? Only you can answer that.

If you need to "make an effort" to afford the M2, why are you even considering the M2C?

The M2 is a fantastic car! The M2C is only 1/10 of a second faster to 60, it's heavier, and it probably won't sound nearly as good as the base model M2.

Get the M2, unless, as others say, money isn't an issue for you.

You'll miss out on slightly faster engine, nicer seats and orange stitching... Honestly... is that worth an extra 12,000 euros?

My advice would be to wait for the first reviews on the M2C which are supposed to be released July 30.IMO the current M2 looks and sounds much better than the c but the c might be a better handling car, especially on the track but it weighs more so we won’t know until we get to read some reviews. The handling would be the only upgrade for me because the current M2 with the N55 has more than enough power to bring a smile to my face every time i drive the car.

12k is too little of a gap to not get a car with an engine that is known to have issues.

12k means different things for different people. i voted the comp purely because its seemingly a better car, but to me, 12k isnt justifiable when that can be used for the next generation m2 when it lands in 2/3 years?

Issues?? I will search about it. I know everything about the car but I have never been interested too much on that...

I suspect the regular M2 is about 95% of what the M2C is going to be. Nobody's opinion matters except yours. My guess is an M2C is car you will have to wait a fair amount of time for as allocations are going to be tight as they have been in the past. I suspect you will be happy either way.

I vote either m2 or m4. I can't justify the in-between priced m2 comp, especially with the sh$&y sounding s55.

They are both M2’s yet very different. I don’t think it’s a fair comparison, a used two year old car compared to a brand new car with a completely different engine, suspension etc. Both cars have their own pros and cons. As was said, wait for the M2c reviews in a few days. Afterwards only you can decide which car to get. I didn’t vote in the poll either as it’s too subjective.

This. I voted for you to go for the newer car, but if it's a struggle, I'm not sure it's worth it.

I like the M2C, but still not sure if I personally would get it, if I didn't have my M2. It would have to be a concrete & sure thing that I could get an allocation.

I think if you posted this on the M2C part of the forum, it wouldn’t be nearly as close.

I am in a similar situation and decided to buy a gently used 2018. I just love the look, sound, and feel of the car. M2C might look a little better to some but it might not sound as good or feel as good so I decided to get what I knew I would like.

And by buying used, depreciation wont be too bad if I decide to sell in a year or two to pursue an M2 comp, a next gen M2, or something else.

Good luck!
