search cars and coffee on youtube and you'll find just dozens and dozens of stupid people in different cars peeling out and losing control.

C63's, mustangs, camaros, etc.

19k miles here and so far i love it more than any other M car I have ever owned. Actually, by far the best of any car I've ever owned.

My interpretation of this is that is someone offered him both cars for free and he had to pick one, he would pick the M3, but because of the price difference, he wouldn't spend the extra money if he were buying it himself.

But doesn't "given a straight choice, the M3" mean that if he did not have to spend his own money (i.e. if money were no object) he'd choose the M3? Or am I misinterpreting his comment?
It means that he likes the M3 more but not enough to justify the higher price.. anyway reviews are subjective; drive both and buy the one you like.

He's probably some whom likes the M5 over the M3.larger faster and less feel. I personally rather have the most sport with acceptable luxury.

Agree totally with this.

A lot of folks here are saying if money was no object they would take the M3/M4. Well, then my thinking is, buy a slightly used M3/M4 for about what the M2 goes for. I just checked cars.com and there are several in that price range.

That's also the BMW marketing plan. BMW would rather you buy an M3/M4 and that's why the M2 is and will continue to be hard to get. Deals on the M3 and M4 will continue to get better for the next year or two as those models are out. The M2 with its high cost of production and low profit margin is not going to be produced in large amounts. The lease rates for the M3 and M4 will get better and the M2 will continue to have horrible lease rates and buyers will choose M240, m3 and m4 rather than wait for the M2

this video was an eyeopener, the new Camaro SS beats M4

I was quite surprised when I saw this head 2 head comparison between the 2016 Camaro SS against the M4. Motortrend Jason Cammisa and Jonny Lieberman seem to prefer it over the M4, "the Camaro SS beats the M4 in every subjectively measured aspect".

The big question is, does the Camaro SS beat the M2? whatever the result is, my money would not go on a Camaro SS.

I was either way, very surprised.

check it out:

I think this article and review is (to borrow a UK word) complete rubbish... the brakes arn't very good... compared to what?!?

You can't turn off rev matching in any mode... umm yes you can

and this i'm not sure on but is the M2 only 2kg lighter than the M4??

In my country (Belgium) you can buy a used M3/M4 for the same price as a M2. If I had children I would buy a M3 or Alpina B3 Biturbo wagon instead. I have no children so I see zero reason to buy a M3/M4 for me…even if the car's are the same price.

I'm not sure I would. The M2 drives quite a bit different than an M3/M4, at least to me.

I test drove them both within the last two weeks (because I still can't decide) and the M2 is definitely more nimble/agile/responsive feeling. The M3 has absurd amounts of power, which was fun, but the M2 felt right up there.

The car felt big and heavy and just not as precise or direct as previous gens. Granted this was only a 20 minute test drive of the f80, but I can recall driving e90's recently and the precision and direct chassis/steering feel is instantly noticeable. The f80 did have enormous amounts of torque and power though, that definitely stood out

Really hoping the M2 has these steering/chassis characteristics that I love about the older M's!
Well I've owned an E90 M3 for 6 years and my findings are exactly the opposite. The F80 feels lighter and more energetic, and also has the better turn in. Also far less understeer, about the same as my E90 with camber plates.

I have driven both cars in the US and Europe, road and track so I think I speak from a position of experience.

Interesting, thanks for sharing your perspective.

Since that last post I made, I have test driven an M2 and it felt much more responsive and nimble compared to the f80 I drove. Very similar to the feeling of the older M cars. The f80 was not bad by any means, just different and not quite what I expected...at least in reference to steering/chassis feel and direct'ness, test drives on the street are hardly the place I could get a feel for turn in or cornering capability.
