Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Can anyone recommend alternative pads to the OE ones I can use for both street and track? |

My 335i is worse than my M2C.
In a day the wheels are coated with dust and I drive conservatively.

EBC Reds. Practically dust free, and pretty decent on the track, perfect street & track setup if you don't like switching pads back n forth.

It's weird. I've seen iffy things on the EBC pads on other forums. I'm not saying they are bad, but they are definitely not track worthy (the Reds, I mean).
If you are fine with less initial bite than OEM, I would check out Porterfield R4-S or maybe the Hawk HPS 5.0. I have the Hawks on my Mazda 3 and they have a lot less bite than the OEM pad, which I don't like in that application. It might be fine for the M2C because BMW loves to make the brakes grabby as hell. To me, the Hawk HPS 5.0 are low dust. Far less dust than the OEM Mazda pad which was almost as dusty as an OEM BMW pad. They are probably not as low dust as an Akebono ceramic, though. |

I'm in Canada so I'm not sure I'll be of much use to you for sourcing the EBC's, but I'm sure a quick Google search should give you plenty of options. As far as "iffy" reviews of the EBC reds on track, I can only speak from personal experience. I tracked both of my previous cars with the Reds, and in terms of street & track performance, I'll continue to use them until I find something I feel serves the dual purpose better than they do (along with the added bonus of being virtually dust free). Previous cars were a stage 2+ VW GTI, and more recently, my ESS supercharged E46 M3. Are they the best track pad available? absolutely not, but the OP asked about a relatively dust free pad that would/could serve double duty. It also depends on style of driving on track, etc etc, but I found the reds to be a substantial step up from stock on both of those cars. Full disclosure though, I've yet to change out the stock pads on my M2, so I can't speak directly as to how the reds will fare on this car. |

I would definitely not track redstuff, you may have gotten away with it but they are ceramic street pads designed for commuting. They aren’t even as track worthy as yellows, which are still street pads. They are multiple performance grades below what is generally considered a track worthy brake pad.
