my 2020 m2c has a bump on the roof
I'm not sure whom to contact since my dealer is not able to fix it. Is there someone at BMW I can reach out to?
tl;dr version I got my 2020 m2c euro delivered last year. At the time of picking it up, I noticed a dent in the passenger door. We told the guys in Munich who assured us that it would be fixed when it got to the US. Now I live in CA and my dealer is in CT. When the car arrived at the dealership they checked and the door was fine. I arranged for transport to get the car to SF. The truck driver noticed that roof on the passenger side as a slightly raised bump. He informed the dealer who told me that he is sending me the car anyway. I guess that was my mistake. I was eager to get the car. But now that I have it I don't know how / who will fix it. My guess is, when they fixed the door, they ended up creating the bump in the roof (since both problems are on the same side of the car). I wonder if anyone knows whom I can contact? Thanks for reading :-) |

I don't think paintless dent removal will work here, too much of a point on the roof dent. Is there corresponding damage to the headliner? Hard to see how that could happen from the outside.

This guy has been through enough, time for BMW NA to step in and make things right with a carbon fiber roof.

X2. I would check inside. There would be no reason to remove the headliner to fix a door...weird.

Wtf? Firstly a car delivered like that in Munich? Hell no! Anyway they fixed it for you, but how did they do the roof like that? That looks like it was done from the inside. How is the inside of the vehicle in that area?
I would contact the dealer and BMW and have all of them listen to my rant until they fix this |

I'd be using this like a MoFo (with my wife) as reasoning to buy/install CF roof.. (nevermind it would only cost $100 for the dent popper to fix)

your head would explode to see the kind of magic that paintless dent removal could accomplish.
The guy I go to(rarely because I dont get dings) has taken a 80 of those roof bumps out per car on a weekly basis. He actually travels to Texas and other parts of the country that get a lot of hail. He charges a few grand to remove a ton of these things and it takes him about a week to remove 80+ dings on the roof but no issues. To this day I can't spot the dent he removed from my drivers side door. Expect to pay ~$200-400 for both dents from someone that isn't a noob. |

If the dealer was aware of this before shipment, BMW should repair it. That is, unless you agreed to take the car "as is" so you could get it faster. I'd check with a good PDR guy to see if they could fix it, but I don't understand how you make that dent without putting a hole in the headliner.

go to the best place to get it fixed and send the quote to your dealer. he should have BMW NA send you a check directly. that's what happened when I filed for my ED delivery damages. I got 1500$ for curb rash on the wheels and front bumper

These types of dents can happen from the outside if there is downward pressure put on the roof panel and it ends up hitting something underneath, like structure or another component inside the roof. Happens a lot on hoods too, where you end up with an outward dent if someone presses or puts pressure on the hood panel. So I wouldn't assume the damage was done from the inside.

I have the same issue with my car. At the drivers side.
Did a dent repair and it came back again. Had the dealer take of the roof liner for inspection and they did not find anything wrong. But now I see there is someone else with same issue |

Tell us the truth. What was her name and how high were the stiletto's?
On a serious note to skier219 there is merit in what they said but if you watch the carbon roof install on a M2 there is nothing in that region that I can see. From photo it actually looks like two dents. I have no advice except get a PDR expert like others said and best of luck.

This is very interesting.
There’s a very slight bump on mine that’s only visible if you look closely through reflection. It’s on the driver’s side towards the rear. Hard to capture it on picture but I know it’s there cuz I’ve seen it while waxing the roof. Tried not to think much of it but I gotta say it’s been bothering me. |

In bodywork terms that's called a high-spot, which will ALWAYS come from the underside (unless it was super smooth and larger), and would be nearly impossible to create with the headliner intact, so you're talking about a manufacturing defect. Terrible.
