Replaced my M2 (6MT - MG) with an M2C (M-DCT - BSM)

Last September I commented:

Any minor world that breaks apart falls together again. That much is true. But the painstakingly slow recovery offered plenty of time & food for thought. Although nothing is set in stone and one can always change his mind, to date I still consider that unfortunate event literary a 'dealbreaker' for me to order high performance cars in the near future + I may eventually part ways with my 6MT M2 in a not so distant future.
Yesterday - while it was raining cats and dogs all day - I took delivery of my fifth BMW M car: I replaced my M2 (6MT - Mineral Grey - April 2016 - ± 65K kms) with a new M2 Competition (M-DCT - Black Sapphire Metallic - orange stitching - produced on October 30, 2019).

Full specs: see the VIN spec sheet below.

Added M Performance Parts:
  • existing: my 19" 763M wheels (Orbit Grey, which matches well with silver brake calipers and BSM body color + an additional McGard wheel lock bolt per wheel) featuring Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires;
  • new: alcantara/leather steering wheel with 12h marker, CF diffuser, CF trunk/gurney spoiler and CF M-DCT kit.
With mixed emotions no manual transmission this time around, but remained loyal to the BMW M brand: kill your darlings, count your blessings, look ahead and move on. And the new owner of my former 6MT M2 allows me to take my former M2 for a spin so now and then in the future.

As with all my cars, also this one is my personal privately owned car (no sponsorship, promo, courtesy or business deal car).

Taking it nice and slow during break-in (first 2K kms) and will let it facilitate 'Freude am Fahren' on my favorite mountains passes this Spring.

I also updated my avatar picture.

So that's why you never clearly answered my question from the other thread... Congratulations, Artemis! I'm elated to see you're not going anywhere! Hope things are getting better for you with each passing day after your life changing event.

What could be said that hasn't already been stated a million times; DCT has lightening fast, video game-like shifting and a manual has a more visceral and connected feel but shifts are obviously slower. The end.

Congrats! Hope you have many years of fun with this one. I know you originally was waiting for the CS, but as we all know, the M2C is a truly special vehicle with no love lost compared to the CS.

Artemis,
Will you be painting the muffler matte black and replacing the rear reflectors to fully murder out your new ride? Dying to hear your impressions between the OG M2 and even your recently sold 1M compared to the M2C. I know it's early and you haven't broken it in yet, but if there's anything you can comment on such as ride comfort, handling, etc. please do.

Congrats! Looks great! The orbit grey 763's not only go well with the silver calipers, but with BSM too.

Congrats!

I just picked one for mine wife couple days ago.

Love the M2C more then I taught.

I wanted M2CS and to be honest with some modes I don't think it would be a big difference.

Would love to see someone retrofit the adaptive suspension from the CS. Also waiting to see if any of the tuners will be able to crack the ECU on the CS and save the tune and mappings to be flashed over onto the M2C. That would be wicked.

Just got back from a drive and boy do I like this little car
Sense they move a lots of parts from M3 it would've been nice to add Adaptive Suspensions.

Feels like in sport mode but I feel is perfect for me.
Boy it can take a corner, and I am on summer tires at 30F which is just below freezing and didn't feel any under steering.
It blow mine mind, mine F80 and E90 specially E90 and E92 had a big under steer problem.

Give it some time and the ECU will be cracked

Had no idea about your accident - sorry to hear and I wish you a speedy recovery! I also picked out a LBB M2C with DCT for my wife last year, and all I can say is that after break-in the car is a beast! Hope you find many miles of joy in your favorite European roads. Definitely a plus that you have relatively easy access to them versus us stateside folk!

Congratulations! And what an exquisite combination with those Orbit Grey 763’s.
I wish you many lucky and safe miles. Even though I know the M-DCT was not your first choice, I am sure it will be the most appropriate one with regard to your leg injury. Enjoy!

spetsnazos, my partially shattered right leg shin bone features 2 titanium plates and 14 screws, as well as donor bone tissue and cartilage (transplanted). Though recovery is considered excellent (I don't limp + 145° range of motion) and I successfully tested my leg endurance and fitness with long stints of intense 6MT M2 driving in the mountains in the meantime (up to 12+ hours sessions), M-DCT requires of course considerably less leg/foot movements + offers a fringe benefit: the 'open space' next to the brake pedal (where normally the clutch pedal is located) allows you to occasionally fully stretch your leg to avoid mild stiffness from kicking in on longer journeys. Long term: heightened risk of degenerative arthritis because of the tibial plateau injuries = getting M-DCT/automatic is a no brainer. Surgeons were pretty clear about that.
