Geico will go down every available road to prevent paying claims, at least that's been my personal experience. YMMV.

So lemme get this straight, out of the blue while cruising on the highway it went boom?

Obviously a one off defect in the manufacture of your hub or else we'd be seeing this happening over and over.

Did they say what caused it?

Did you have all your mods installed when it happened (exhaust)? And did your dealership cover it under warranty? I really want to do an exhaust but I only have one dealership to take it to.

The s55 m2 is brand new. Kinda hard to see it everywhere. It is happening for sure. Dealership said I was the first m2 but by the time the car left, was the third.

Cruising. Can't remember if I had CC on or not though. I think it was on.

Never put the downpipes on because it blew up on route to the shop to put them on lol. Dealership covered everything but gave no loaner car so I had 6 months of payments and use a different car.

Why did it take 6 months? Was BMW fighting you on the warranty claim?

Just was issue after issue after issue
First it was motor (which they told me up front would take forever to get a replacement)
then it was transmission (after they dropped in the motor so took forever). Then I had to bring it back because they left the engine bay a mess. Then the car kept throwing random codes while driving.. turned out to be bad spark plugs. Misfiring like crazy.

It was just a lot. The car is, seemingly, fine now. Been dailying it since I got it back.. Just left a horrid taste in my mouth and because of it, will be the last BMW I ever purchase.

BMW USA is very, very, very, very, very bad to deal with.

Sorry to hear this. Sounds like the dealer dropped the ball also aka the loaner and engine bay.

bmw usa said the loaner would max at 3 weeks or something.. so wouldn't have mattered either way.

The dealership has been the only good part at this point. They're just as frustrated. I hated them at first, but once they showed me how much is controlled by corporate, I understood their position

I am considering if I should just have the fix done. Reached out to a shop last week they quoted $2800 including parts from MAX PSI.

I'm not going to worry about it. The frequency of these cases are non-existent compared to the S65 bearing issue.

Kinda hard yet after your car left the shop they had seen 3??

That sounds quite prevalent if you ask me.

I guess time will tell as my dealership has seen none (M2s), and only a few modded M4s/M3s.

Yes true, but the only reason I was considering it because I am tuned. Than again I see cars running with tune for 70K plus miles on M3/4s with no issues. Also to be extra cautious, I also have the MBI if something were to happen.

Trust me, with stage 1 or 2 or CS, it really brings out the best of M2C.

As a result for stock m2c, what is your suggestion of crank problem?

Upgrade crank or not?

It's not the crank it's the crank hub.

I think the general consensus is if you're under warranty don't touch anything. If you're about to be out of warranty and want to be safe then you'll have to get a maximum psi crank hub which will require the engine to be dismantled and the crank to be drilled. This will cost alot of money. Also if the crank hub slips now it will be catastrophic.

The trade off is not wirth it.

I can understand SCH on modded cars, kickdown etc.

What I can't get my head around is blown engine/tranny while simply cruising along. I have not heard of SCH happening under those conditions before.

It could if the crank bolt is loose, so a CBC js probably a good idea.
