Glad I found this thread. Wanted to see if anyone can give me their opinion if I should get the MPC for my 2018 m2. I have no intention of tracking as this is my DD that I just drive to work and home, and maybe some spirited driving on the highway. my main goal is trying to cut the wheel gap a bit. I also live in Houston, TX which despite being a giant ass city has some of the worst intercity roads ever. My main thing choosing MPC is for the warranty.

i just installed mine. well absolute night and day difference. car feels better, the steering wheel sends more informations and the turns are much smooters. i'm using the recommended settings but not as low as they suggest. i still have to do the corner balance but i want to try more setting before mybe a little harder in rebound and compression

Vs stock are the coilovers more jarring at town speeds?
When I think of coilovers I think of super hard suspension that makes your fillings fall out while pretending it's great and what you wanted hehe. Having said that I have zero experience of them. |

Not sure i've noticed much of a difference after having them installed for a few months now. You can always adjust to a softer setting for comfort.

You can adjust heights and damper settings on MPerf C/overs so as for low speed compliance/city driving, the ride is way smoother than standard suspension.

So-- after reading this thread and going "Hmmmmm", I talked to the guys at Bimmerworld about suspension upgrades for (mostly) street.
We discussed the M Performance, but they recommended the MCS 1-way damper set w/ appropriate springs instead, saying that would give a far better "daily driver" ride than the M Performance. Thoughts? https://www.bimmerworld.com/MCS-F8X-...et-non-CO.html |

Damn you guys gonna cost me more money!
Next mod I want to do is more on handling, if I do power it will be last. Now what one to do, MSS springs, M Perf Coilovers or AST 5100?! |

Problem is for your application it may be overkill as it will likely $1500-2000 more when all is said and done. I originally considered getting MCS 2 ways with camber plates and I track and autocross my car 8-12+ times a year. That said, the full set up with MCS dampers would have been around $4.7K USD whereas the M performance would be $2.8K Whilst the delta in performance is supposed to be night and day and I track my car far more often then you I couldn't justify that expenditure on a non-dedicated track car when I can take the difference and get a few days of driver training with it. |

I'm very happy with MPS esp as I've had 2 sets of top mounts replaced under warranty and now looks like NSF LCA needs to be replaced, also under warranty. MSS is springs only say £1100 fitted. As M50 says - try to drive all 3 and make yr decision.

I'd go MSS as long as dampers aren't under undue stress though hopefully OEM replacements (if needed) aren't too much money? |

MSS and Billy B8's when yr std struts/dampers go pop. B8 are about 700-800 all round so you be paying the same / if not more for MSS / B8 combo than oem coilovers

The stock suspension of the M2 is a joke, that’s a fact. The car is never well settled with it, it’s very bouncy from the rear, it twists in corners in a weird way that makes impossible to drive fast and precisely. The M-perf suspension transforms totally the car, solving this critical issue. It’s stiff, but not to the point to make the car unusable on the road. In fact, the car is MORE comfortable with it, as it stops bouncing like crazy at the smallest bump.
BUT, something to keep in mind before buying it for a car used as DD is that coilover bumpers have a much lower longevity than normal ones. I know what I’m talking about. I installed the M-perf suspension on my M2 LCI when it had 5000 kms. One of the rear bumpers broke one year after, after 10000kms. One of the front one just broke after 25000kms. Based on what I could learn from the mechanics of my BMW garage, it’s the normal longevity of KW coilovers whose main recommended use is track, not road. I found similar information on the web. |
