anyone here has successfully tried 788M wheels with 295/30r without rubbing?

it's pretty obvious that the 265/35 stock sizes are woefully small for the M2C, not just from a looks perspective (bulges inwards tremendously.. aka "inverse" bulging), but this car can definitely use some more rubber to the ground with the added power.

I know some folks have successfully installed 295/30 on the M2 (non-comp) wheels, but haven't seen any threads with anyone doing it on the 788M M2C wheels.

anyone know or have pics?

788m and 437m oem 19" rear wheels have same width/offset.

If 295/30/19 works on non-comp M2 with 437m wheels, it is very safe to assume it will also work fine on M2Comp wearing same suspension setup and 788m wheels.

Possible if suspension is stock seems to be consensus. 285/30/19 rear would be ideal. But no Michelin PS4S in this size.

I'm not sure 285 is "ideal" to be honest. Size wise, 295/30 is a better fit to avoid DSC intrusion, speed variances, etc:

285/30:

295/30:

The 295 seems to be much closer to the diameter of the OEM tire, thus keeping the speedometer and tachometer closer in accuracy.... and wider tires to boot

Gosh, seems like this might be a close call but not sure I wanna be the guinea pig for this

Current OEM sizes that it came with:
- 19x10j et40 788M wheels, with 265/35R19 MPSS

What I'm hoping to go with:
- 19x10j et40 788M wheels, with 295/30R19 MPSS

the difference would be:

that's a pretty substantial change from the OEM, and I'm really worried about rubbing (not so much "bulging").

If I stick with the MPSS instead of the MP4S, then 285/30 is an option, but again, there will be a substantial difference in size vs rev/speed:

On my previous F80 M3, I did upsize from 275/35 to 295/35 MPSS on a 437M wheel (same 19x10j et40, as with our M2C 788M wheels), and had no issues:

my car:

What DOES give me hope is that DrKevM5 went 295/30's on his OG M2 with 437M wheels (same offsets), and apparently had no issues:

ok, so I did a little research, and I think a couple of the MPSS 295/30's are for sure safe to put on, and the MP4S may work as well:

Here is the MP4S vs MPSS in the OEM 265/35 size:

Notice the thread width (9.6" MP4S vs 9.3"MPSS) and and section widths (10.7" on both).

Here are the comparisons for MP4S vs 2 different MPSS versions:

The MP4S (11" thread width, 11.9" section width) may work as it's only 1.5" larger - thus 3/4" on each side)..... the smaller MPSS ( 10.7" thread width, 11.8" section width) for sure will fit.
The larger MPSS I think it will be a bit long and may rub (11.5" thread width, 11.9" section width), which would be 2 full inches wider.

I'm gonna do some more digging, but I'm hoping the MP4S will fit without rubbing... worse comes to worse, the smaller MPSS will definitely fit without rubbing

285/30 or 285/35 is NOT ideal, if you want to keep the speed/rev count (thus how DSC and MDM operate) similar to stock:

285/35 will have the following impacts in size and speed:

At 90mph, you actual speed with me +2.1mph

285/30 will be similar, but in the opposite direction:

at 90mph, your actual speed is -2.1mph

the closest size that would keep the count as similar as how the car was made, woulld be 295/30

I have run 285/35 RE-71Rs going on three years now with 0 issues. Also have everthing turned off. They definitely loose their taller height pretty fast too.

SUCCESS!!!

I was able to finally put 295/30R19 MP4S rears (from MPSS), and although it is slightly wider than the smaller MPSS 295's (10.4 vs 11 thread width), there is no rubbing on stock suspension.

Left: 265/35
right: 295/30

both on:

I will take better pics soon and post them

now that you've been running stock front and new rear size, any drastic driving dynamics? Positive or negative from the new set up.
