I'd hope not, but the E92 MPE had chronic issues with cracking too, and they messed it up yet again with the F8x.

I hope it hangs down less than the prototype. It's not much better than the stock exhaust.

Any sense on when in April it'd be available and if they'd be post-installable? My car just started production AP with eta to the port in early-mid April. I'm hoping the MPE will be available for port install. Thanks!

No idea! Normally you would guess so. The best option is to go to your dealer and discuss it with them. They will know or at least you give them an incentive to start investigating it and finding out for you if it is possible.

No, since it's designed to fit the F87 chassis.

But what's the point? There already exists a F80/82/83 MPE on which this F87 MPE is based on...

Thanks! Yea, I was chatting with my CA yesterday and he mentioned being able to hold the car at the port a bit longer to buy some time in case the MPE shows up late. But we'll see!

Doesn't appear to be as wide, but overall, similar height - which is why you can see it so easily from the rear.

I wish we had some feedback from BMW on why the mufflers are designed this way - it might be more palatable if we knew there was a true purpose for the shape.

Why isn't the mppsk made of titanium? Maybe the aftermarket can make a direct replacement.

Because $$$$. Folks already complain that the F8X MPE is way too expensive, but it is 17lb lighter . Not sure an expensive Ti unit would sell well on a 340i.

That's so on the money!

Some already complain about the M4 CS's MSRP, claiming that BMW is charging an "M Tax" with no substantive justification.

However, if you whip out your iPhone calculator and do the math of what each light weight body part cost, individually, it reveals that in grand scheme of things, you're actually getting a bargain.

Not to mention we're in 2019, factoring in inflation for instance; $50,000 today doesn't command the same buying power it did 7 - 10 years ago. So prices were forced to change to reflect this but consumer's mentality didn't.

So manufactures are stuck somewhere in the middle trying to make their products affordable and appealing to their target demographics, yet catch up to inflation, since consumers want their cake...

https://westegg.com/inflation/infl.cgi

For those that believe a 1M was bargain in 2010 at 50k but an M2 Comp. is a rip-off at 58k in 2018:

I keep going back and fourth on the whole exhaust issue. I think a can of high temp paint will be my best option for now.

Generally speaking, you like how the M2C sounds stock, right?

I think that's the most important thing - and if you like the sound, then you paint the cow udder...

Yes, I have zero issue with how the M2C sounds stock.

If the MPE or Akra were more reasonable, then I would say go for it...for example, the PSE was ~$1800 to be retrofitted to my 981. I thought that was pretty fair for an awesome sound and valve button on the console.

But 5-6K? Man....that's steep. 10% of the cost of the car...

Something tells me the s58 will not sound that different to the s55. Eager to hear the MPE for the M2c once people get them installed, will probably be a good gauge of what's to come.

I think you're right - the small number of clips I have seen sound a lot like my F80 - whether that's your cup of tea or not is a different question, but it certainly sounds similar to my ears and via YouTube.
