I don't think this is a thing that most M2C owners are experiencing. I live in Los Gatos, CA. The many miles on major highways have very rough surfaces. The road noise is terrible at highway speeds. On good highway surfaces things are fine. Has anyone dealt with lowering road noise on M2C?

Same experience here. If there aren't other cars immediately around you, try to ride slightly off center in the lane and you'll notice a significant reduction in noise. I'm also noticing the noise becomes a little louder as the front tires wear out.

Why put sound deadening BACK into a performance car; that defeats part of the point of a sports car. |

There M2C certainly feels less refined than my E90 M3. Ordered these parts from ECS, worth a shot. Not sure why adding them in would defeat the point of a sports car, if anything it will make the car more flexible and less fatiguing on long journeys with no detriment when driving spiritedly. Might also help the truly awful stock sound system slightly. I like hearing engine/exhaust sounds not tyre roar and wind noise.

Eliminating the sound deadening is a cheap trick for the user to misinterpret road noise as performance and also, it reduces cost. |

Hearing a bit of road and engine noise allows a driver to feel more connected with the car on the road. My M235i was numb compared to my M2C. I couldn't hear the engine to know when to shift the paddle shifters in manual mode. I think the lack of hood insulation allows the engine sound to come through. I have no problem hearing when to shift my M2C 6MT.

I feel an M2C wouldn't be as fun with sound insulation; when I drive in Comfort Mode with the windows rolled up, it's already quiet as a mouse to me. |

At least if it's reasonable docile inside, you have the option of making a phone call or having a conversation with a passenger, without interruption and cracking the window or sunroof, when you want more fanfare. My old Mini Cooper JCW had no sounded deadening and I could of never properly use the Bluetooth speaker because the engine sound would be a distraction the person on the other line. It's was so annoying and one of the reasons I was happy to get rid of it. However, if you're the type that lives his life a quarter mile at a time, I could see why would appreciate no insulation and probably the first to use some dry ice to delaminate all the factory undercoating. |

I inserted a pic on the first page of that weatherstrip thread that shows my new and improved addition to the wind whistle cure on my M2C. 😉 https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1200964 Last edited by AlpsRider; 01-06-2020 at 08:47 PM.. |

I definitely would not want a car that would have ALL sound deadening removed (I'm not a masochist, lol); maybe it's just a personal experience thing- I've driven my M2C on buttery smooth roads to less than stellar roads, and to me, it isn't something that would require me to actively seek out additional sound deadening. That said, I drove my friends Honda Fit several times - THAT has very bad road noise. Last edited by MMMBRAP; 01-07-2020 at 08:12 PM.. |

Perhaps that's true. However the kind of heat generated by this engine I would think is primarily cooled by the radiators located behind the front grill and less by an air gap at the fender corners at the rear of the engine.
