No. I had the software updated once in 2018 right before the M2C came out, but there had been at least one update since that update for the M2C which I did not do. So you definitely don't need the latest update before to get this update.

* crank protection seal
* new accessory belt + tensioner
* E90 clutch slave (CDV delete)
* Rogue Engineering transmission mounts

with the CDV delete, AS short shifter (stock height, 20% reduction), and the trans mounts, the entire drivetrain just feels perfect now. super happy.

I just did this last Tuesday as well, for the trip to STL to get my car wrapped. The front bumper cover is freshly painted and I didn't want to take any chances that I might get a chip.
