Help with tire cleaner
I just washed my car and wanted to use Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner on the tires. I just had new rears installed, and the fronts were installed last summer/fall.
I used the tire cleaner as per the directions and the rear tires came out great but the fronts not so good. I applied the cleaner and brushed the tires multiple times with the same result. I love the look of the rears, any help is appreciated before I ditch this bottle of tire cleaner in the garbage. Thank you. |

It’s almost like brake dust and it won’t come off. I’ve tried mineral spirits also to get that natural black tire look. For dressing I prefer to use Adam’s vrt, leaves a nice satin finish |

Dozer324 It could be residue of the releasing agent used during the tire's manufacturing process. I have used 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover - 08984 along with a towel and some elbow grease to get it off. You would then want to apply some tire dressing. In addition to what I mentioned above, I like 303 Protectant as a simple dressing.

So older tires don’t turn out as good as brand new ones. Are we being trolled here?

Tire has to be completely clean and raw to best accept any dressing product. I use Stoners Tarminator and it works good. With new tires it takes some work because you have leftover factory products and also the sticky lube that the tire tech used to mount the tire.

No I’m not trolling. The older two tires are about 8 months old. Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner is suppose to bring them back to original black without dressing. They do not come out black regardless of number of applications I do. Maybe read my post and you would understand what I’m describing.
