Just echoing some disappointment in his statement...just didn't track with his previous statements and I just don't see how the M2C is THAT much different than the OG M2 (especially with the additional weight). Sure maybe the seats and brakes assist on track...but the car is just NOT that much different to make that distinction.

you mean other than:
  • significantly more powerful, larger power band, higher revving engine
  • significantly improved engine cooling
  • significantly larger brakes and brake ducts
  • significantly higher quality more supportive seats
  • significantly more front end rigidity
  • revised LSD, DSC and TCU software
  • redesigned front end

The penalty for this? 100-150lbs more weight? - I'll agree the portion of that new weight that is unsprung is not ideal but jeeze... honestly what more do you expect from the introduction of a slightly higher specification of a current generation car?

You guys sound like non-M2C owners in denial of the facts - OGM2 is awesome, M2C is an improved iteration! Try to accept it

Don't forget hideous wheels!

Better car on paper...sure. I'll give you that, for the reasons you listed. But how much more performance can an average driver pull from the M2C than the M2? Are we talking 5%? 10% at the outside?

I also hate the sound of the S55...and the complexity of that motor

This is the first Harris vid that I actually thought was a waste of time. Surprisingly bad video for him and I'm a big fan.

It wasn’t up to his old standards for sure. He’s too busy I think.

Yep, shame I've a ton of respect for him but I think some of the magic has been lost with the move to Top Gear. He's still a legend but Henry Catchpole is making moves to be the new go to independent reviewer.

What happened to Jethro Bovingdon? he was on form too (remember the 4 part m2 vs Cayman s vs TTRS series) until Motortrend picked him up.

He seemed to be in a hurry to wrap up the review, came across as being very curt at times. Must have had a McLaren to drive next.

And you forgot:
Significantly improved electronic steering
Retuned suspension resulting in better ride quality
Adaptive LEDs available
Now available with a sunroof
Real M mirrors that don't seem to have any issues with wind noise

And the list goes on...

What S55 complexity do you speak of? An extra turbo that you don't care about as a driver?

The sound on this car is spectacular...IDK what you've been reading.

Even though the HP numbers are 10% higher, the usable band is much better on the M2C vs the M2. Look at the Torque/RPM curves.

You make it sound like 10% more HP is no biggie but claim that 100lbs is the end of the world.

Doing it wrong.

My list:
- Finally a sunroof option
- Way better looking than the last gen
- Way better seats
- Steering is substantially better.
- Although at first I was skeptical, I"m now convinced the 788's are way better looking than the 437s.
- Better suspension setup.

Several people have mentioned about the sunroof now.

Was the sunroof not available in some markets on the OG M2?

Correct. Oddly, it was available in Canada, but not in the USA.

He talked about straight line acceleration as one main distinction between the two. You don't see it because you have never driven the two side by side going all out. Check this video out

LOL...with this rational, you better off in a 220i

I mean how much more performance can you pull from the M2 than the 220i on the street? You can still lose your license in it and it has much less complexity

Why are people here saying the M2C has a better suspension setup? The parts are the same?

I'm coming from an OG M2 and the M2C feels more planted less harsh/bumpy on B roads and the medieval streets we have here. Dunno what it is, but it feels different.

Cheers

That's what my friends say about M2C compared to their OG M2. I want to check it

*I'd better have it the other way around , 50kgs less off course but just saying....
