Finally got my M performance trunk lip from BMWpartpros, after Fedex lost the first one during shipping (yeah right, someone stole that M'Fr).

Anyway, this thing was a PITA to install. Just getting the damn adhesive off the trunk from the stock lip was extremely tedious. Then, the thin strips of 3m tape that came pre-installed didn't make contact with the trunk in the back and there were gaps on both sides. So, I had to remove the lip, remove all the adhesive AGAIN from the trunk and the lip. Re-install some thicker, wider 3m tape and re-install everything.

Though tedious, well worth it. It looks awesome now and fits perfectly with no gaps at all. I guess if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself

Installed the ASD bypass harness. So far so good. Heading out for an hour commute tomorrow so we will see how it sounds at cruising speeds

One of the best mods for these cars. Especially if you have an MPE.

Feel your pain. I didn't have to remove a second time thankfully as the first time was tough enough. In the end, I found patience, 3M adhesive remover and a plastic razor blade worked pretty well once the old lip was cut off with fishing line.

Still, don't want to do it again.

I ended up stopping about an hour and a half in and driving to Autozone to get some 3m adhesive remover. The goo gone just wasn't working quick enough.

Yeah, it was bad enough having to remove the adhesive once, but to do it all over again?? I was beyond pissed off I guess it's better than being pissed on

Was warm enough to work comfortably in the garage yesterday and no salt on the roads.

I took off the cover, disconnected the battery tender, changed the brake fluid & bled the system, replaced the brake pads, installed the front mud flaps and took her down off the jack stands for the first time in 2 months or so.

Went out for a wonderful test drive and plan to head for the hills tomorrow.

Washed it. Was way overdue.

Also - not today, but I installed the hood insulation from an m240i and WOW what a difference. Not a cheap piece but much quieter. Have some other sound deadening coming from Germany that will be here in two weeks. More exhaust, less wind and tire noise 👍🏼👍🏼

Interesting, can we see a pic of the insulation installed? Maybe a part number?

Page 6 GregoryK outlines a bunch of stuff. Not my pic but this is the hood insulation. Install takes 2 mins. Part was $150 w clips from local dealer. Can be had cheaper online but he offered free return if it didn't fit. It fits.

I was lucky enough to get the stage 3 tune done personally by Jimmy Pelka who is here in OZ. Car sounds awesome with 3 seconds of AK. The sound clip is on my insta #coogeem2

Bought a new Conti tire. Got a nail in the sidewall. I was a little surprise. With 8,600 miles I had 9 tread depth in front on both tires and 8 in the back.

Could you make an estimation of how much the insulation weighed?

Next to nothing. I believe he weighed everything he added at 9lbs. Total BS that they stripped it for weight savings.

As far as the hood piece - 1lb. If that.

Hit a random nail on the street and now I have a flat rear tire, FML. Car only has 3k kms on it...Very curious if dealer has any Conti CS3 tires available nearby.

Use it as an excuse to get PS4S all round. Contis don't last that long anyway. My rears were nearly done at 7,500 miles and no track use. Fronts were fine, but believe me PS4S transforms the car.

This. I managed 18,500km (~11k miles) from my Contis. Moved to PS4S and upsized to M3/4 tyre sizes. Like a new car. Even better once I got rid of ASD and the 'drone' of Sport mode.

Nice driving.

I absolutely destroyed my rear Conti's in less than 6500 miles.

Wow. I have Conti’s on my ‘18. I’m at about 21k miles. Rears are about done. Fronts have some meat left.
But I’ll probably change them all to PS4

Got a sweet dent on the way into the office. Had a piece of rubber or something come flying out of nowhere!
