Anyone able to receive text/email via iDrive?

You mean multimedia msgs I.e. images? I don't know! I've never tried it or had anyone send me a text with image while in the car.

On the iPhone yes. As long as its not in do not disturb.

Cool, AFAIK it doesn't work on Android.

I expect emoticons look like Chinese characters or something and that any pics are not displayed?

I was having issues getting email on my iDrive (under messages). Even if I had email selected, it simply wasn't there. Well, it turns out you have to use the default email app on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S5). I won't regularly use that, but configured it to see if it'd show up in my car. Sure enough, it did. This was driving me crazy for a bit, as it was the only iDrive piece that wasn't working for me.
