Well, I am not a car salesman and have nothing to gain or lose in this exercise . . . other than the satisfaction associated with possibly assisting a fellow forum member secure a vehicle that interests them.

I am not even aware of any ‘ordering forums’ and since my intent is not to try and ‘sell a car,’ it really would not have made any difference had I known of their existence.

I was not about to start another thread dedicated to the M2CS topic. The current thread has over 123,000 views, 2,000 posts and I am quite certain has drawn the attention of M2CS enthusiasts and pundits alike.

As far as expectations go . . . my impression was that the M2CS is a limited edition ///M car whose demand easily exceeded the 482 U.S. allocations being provided, and that not all interested consumers who frequent this dedicated M2CS thread had secured a ‘first spot’ on an allocation list.

So, I stand by what I stated before: At this point I am compelled to conclude there is truly very little interest in obtaining the M2CS, and there are ample allocations to meet the limited demand. . . or that allocations are being consumed by non-enthusiasts and/or those who do not frequent this subforum?

Then, you go to order a M2C, and allocations for that may or may not be available by the time you find out you didn't make the cut for a CS (especially in Europe).

So theoretically, you could get skunked twice.

Just something to consider if you have your heart set on one or the other.
Another hypothesis that validates that the M2C was meant to be for me. I would have started to think of an M2C right about now, under previous plans for a new car....

I thought it was great that you offered up the info - super useful for anyone that may be looking for the chance. I just wouldn't put a lot of stock in the audience in THIS thread not PM'ing you being much of a bellweather.

Here's the subforum I was referencing:

The M2CS is geared towards BMW enthusiasts. There has been already "mainstream" publications of this when it was revealed (e.g all the auto magazines, websites, etc). Sure, there has been no hands on driving reviews.

The point is, if you're a BMW enthusiast or even a car enthusiast, you would have already heard about it. And therefore, even hearing about it, you have made the conscious decision to not get it for XYZ reasons.

The M2CS's value and target audience sets with people who want this car for its collectibility and uniqueness. It is not for the enthusiast who is also conscious about price. A conscious enthusiast who cares about driving value and price would either make the argument to step up to a Porsche. Or go down to a M2C for the value proposition of getting 80-90% (exact % up to debate based on your own use case) of the M2CS

Not sure what your experience has been, but mine really hasn't matched that. I'd say roughly 10% of car enthusiasts that I know were aware of it, and that includes some pretty die-hard BMW guys. I do work for a charity that does its fundraising entirely with automotive events nobody in that group knew what it was either. My brothers subscribe to numerous magazines and have owned/own several BMW's and didn't know about the car. I could go on with examples for quite a while. Point being my personal exposure is a lot of people have no idea about this car.

Thank you for sharing. As with current events, my experience may not be the same as your experience.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I spend part of my morning scouring auto news via all the popular sites. I have seen the mention of M2CS for the past 4 years. Remember when rumors called it the M2 CSL haha

And since then, I felt the M2CS release was dragged on and on. Always a tease and never a full reveal. And even when they did reveal it, the US was left with no direction on allocation or order information.

It has definitely dragged on! I also was like "how can you not know about this car!" I just got "the look" that said I was the weirdo, not them. After it happened a few times I realized that maybe they were right - this time .

If we all agreed we'd have nothing to talk about and wouldn't have 92 pages so far. BMW hasn't given us much!

Absolutely! It would be crickets. BMW hasn't given us a whole lot to work with over the past year or so. We keep creating our own content. . I've very much enjoyed it.

yet we still find it all almost equally entertaining, and we all thankfully humor the disparate views thankfully . I do appreciate the community here and in this thread. I've been on car forums for 20 years at this point, and they are certainly not all so amicable.

I think it's a very small niche of people interested in a M2 CS. You really have to be looking for it. It has to check some peculiar boxes at it's price point.
Unrelated. How has the reliability of the F-Type been? I'm really keen on the F-Pace for my wife. I've always liked Jags. I think it's SO much more stylish than any other SUV and reviews seem to be great.

Mine has been bulletproof. I wouldn't say I beat on it, but I've certainly leaned on it a bit. You also can't beat the warranty with included maintenance. Id have no reservations about going with Jaguar if it meets your needs. Just get something 2018 or newer so you get the latest Nav system. 2017 is like having an Atari in the dash. The meridian sound system needs to be fed good quality audio otherwise you'll wonder what's wrong with it. The paint seems very robust as well.

Edit: I think the wagon is super sharp.

Summary of review.

- It's good, great even!
- Quote about all the official stats and changes from the M2C
- Return to roots of true BMW M values.
- Engine and output now finally what the superb chassis deserves.
- Will give M3/4 a run for money on track times.
- Expensive, to a few will the updates be worthwhile.
- Potential future classic but won't commit as no one can predict.

Did I miss anything?
Sorry I'm slightly cynical, 'motoring journalism' must be the worst kind of 'press' there is.

Small group of writers who are invited under paid promotion conditions, we can all write their reviews before they even step in a car. No one ever criticised a release because next time...no luxurious invite to Portugal to hoon around road and track in someone else's car.

Who wouldn't write nice things

Sorry this isn't M2 or even BMW specific of course, just a state of 'reviews' in the new YouTube world.

It will be great to get some fresh M2CS material though. Bring that on!!
