michelin pilot sport cup 2 sidewall issue

Hello, I was wondering if anyone here had this issue with the michelin pilot sport cup 2 sidewall. It looks like is a cut but I haven't see anything in my fender that indicates that.

Thanks for all the help!

Looks like a sidewall cut from the installation of the cup2 to me.

Would be my guess as well.

How long have you had the tires on the car? Do you think it's something that happened while they were on the car?

Agree with those above - it looks like installer damage (particularly with the wheel untouched, I doubt this occurred while the car was being driven).

Either install damage or driving too hard with low tire pressure and they bent into the wheel. It looks like there is a start and end point from a tool mark though so I'm leaning towards install.

These tires take a while to heat up and chew up the sidewalls quick below 31 cold if you start pushing them around corners. I witnessed this on Monday and could feel the tires rolling over. Only took a couple of laps to round the sides of the tread

I'd wager it was there beforehand and/or just opened up after heat cycling. That isn't a fault with the sidewall -- mechanical damage was done to it by an outside object/force.
