I'm not sure since I had the sport cat installed before the rest of the exhaust. You'd have to ask a member who still has a stock cat.

I have this exhaust with stock cat and sound controller. It is definitely louder than stock with the valves in the open position. MDM mode when cold already borders on obnoxious territory. YMMV

First of all, an excellent review of the products ( Fabspeed Motorsport RemusUSA and the explanation. I had just got my M2 LCI in LBB 2 months ago. And started to research what I can possibly do to this car to make it my own but most of all make it a statement piece.
I have been on this forum since I got this car and this been an absolute pleasure. This place has been a wealth of knowledge to me who has not done much to any car I have owned. But with M2, I really wanted to make some modification and make it my own. I reached out to andrewc89 via PM and he has been just one word, BEST! in sharing his knowledge and explaining why and what to work on as a new owner. I did some cosmetics things so far, PPF (Front, hood, Front and back fenders at DetailersDomain Amazing work. Shout out to Phil amazing work, got a mode carbon lip, tint, black grill, and gills. But one thing I wanted to do front the start was to change the sound of the exhaust. It was just little to muted for me. Once again, I read a lot of reviews, watched a lot of videos on youtube like most of us car fanatics do. BTW youtube should give me a plack for just watch so many videos in the past six months. Must have watched every single video that has anything to do with M2 PERIOD day and night at work at home, the point I am trying to make I watch a lot of videos about modding my M2. BUT, No matter how much you watch these videos there is nothing like experiencing something in person. Everyone has different taste and respect that. But it is really hard to make decisions on these parts as you have an emotional connection to them, by hearing it over the internet and making thousands of dollars of commitment and spending money and time to install them and at the end not liking it. I didn't want buying something and to sell it or returning it to the vendor. I did go to many shops reputable shops to get their opinion and asking them if they had any M2 in their garage that I can come by listening too. Saw M2 with EW catless downpipe and MPE exhaust. It was loud but just loud, didn't had many tones or drama per se. I heard a lot about Akra but I don't want to spend 6k on just exhaust but I wasn't sure if I would even love the sound. So my research continued. Came across this post and boy this really got me excited. andrewc89 had gone through the same issues that I was facing so I reached out to him about a month and a half ago. Lucky me, come to find out he is local to me and decided to have a meet and greet with him. MY OH MY! HIS SETUP IS F***ing AWESOME! excuse my french. We went for the drive and his car is everyone dream. This is how M2 should have been from the factory (BMW get your notebook out and take notes). In comfort mode this car is quiet and tamed as a nice Persian cat it purs but ever so quietly that you don't hear anything but the quietness of your cabin, I would say it was as quiet as my stock car. but when you open it up in different modes, it screams like a wild cat of Serengeti or some say afghani wedding with AK47. These pops and bangs are ridiculous but not in a bad way, they feel classy and chic (if that's a thing in the car). You can hear the RemusUSA exhaust and Fabspeed Motorsport downpipe. Nothing but sweetness. Some may say it was bestowed from the land of milk and honey (its not a real thing LOL but if it was it would be amazing) it is just fantastic. The car had drama, fun, presence and most of all you could hear it in lower and higher gears as God of cars intended. Not only that the Catted downpipe from Fabspeed Motorsport added a real kick to the power. This car was not tunned but if it was I don't know how much more power andrewc89 could have squeezed out of it. But even without the tune, this car was so much fun and drama. I felt like my M2 was just eh. I wanted to share my thought with anyone that is thinking of getting an exhaust or downpipe and don't want to compromise with sounds and quality. THIS IS IT!!! I have made my decision that I am going to get the same set up as andrewc89 because it is that good. If I am going to spend my hard money I rather get something that I will love for the rest of the time of owning this car. I must say, andrewc89 was very forthcoming and helpful on how he came to conclusion and his post here conveys that But I wanted to share my thought with everyone here that I have heard and seen this car in person and It is just aaaammaazing!!! I feel like I might run out of adjectives to describe how wonderful experience I had. I really hope this helps out to anyone who is having a hard time making their decision. I really wish youtube can relay the live experience through the speakers but it doesn't. If you know someone who has this setup, go check it out. Ask around and make a sound decision, you M2 is worth it. you won't be disappointed. Once again I really want to thank @andrew for showing me his car and taking me for a drive and sharing all his knowledge. |

One thing I would reiterate for those considering this setup is to make sure to turn off ASD. You will not loose any drama or volume, other than headache inducing unnatural noise that doesn't correspond to what the car is doing, and will instead be able to enjoy this car's song in its pure form. Once ASD was off, I was relieved that only the good sound remained across the entire rev spectrum. |

For more info on removing ASD see here: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1202389 Note: It can also be coded out via Bimmercode if you prefer that to installing a physical harness. |

@andrewc89 hey,how is it going. So I got the Remus and and CG sound controllerVSC1. But it is only controlling one of my valves. Do you have one valve on your Remus? I have the LCI model as you saw. My sound controller VSC1 is only controlling one valve.

No I have two valves, same as you. What It means is that you have the plugs connected in the wrong order. Same thing happened to me initially so I know. Rearrange the order that the car is plugged into the valve controller and both valves should then work.

Hi @andrewc89 do you know how the electric harness from remus look like and is it possible to buy it? I'm not talked about "valve control system" but just stock wire which is included with exhaust. Because I don't get it how they control 2 valves by one wire

I had the same combo installed except for the valve controller the other day. The sound this system makes with the fabspeed DP is jaw dropping… I’m not sure if the valves are working correctly tho.
Both exhaust valves are open when the car is off and after the initial warmup sequence and when idling in all modes. Is this normal behaviour? Do the valves only close above a certain rpm? I might have to consider getting the CG Prescision controller. |
