Set up: 2018, Vorschlag camber plates at -3ish, Apex FL-5 18x9.5 ET28

Short back story: I kinda screwed up by letting stress cloud my purchase of tires recently (Goodyear Supercar 3R). Was looking at rear tire size max width and but was thinking square when I ordered. After I dropped the tires and rims off to get mounted, I started to second guess what I was doing and began to think that the 275s wouldn't fit up front. I went to the shop to stop them and ask them to order 265 square instead. When I got there, they had one mounted. I asked them to wait on the rest and I went home to test fit the one wheel with 275 on the front left and right.

Results: It fit with no rubbing and full weight (haven't driven them yet) - I couldn't believe it! Now to test fit all and go for a ride (another day).

Sharing for two reasons:
1) Help others with fitment
2) Looking for comments and criticism regarding how stupid this may be - tell me what I should look out for besides rubbing. I've seen comments about worse turn-in, but not sure if that's true. Anything else?

These wheels will be for track only and that's why I posted here (more track-minded folks).

I mount 275 Hankooks, Supercar 3s, and PS4s on those same wheels and need a min 5 mm spacer to avoid rubbing on the spring perch...With Ohlin R&T....not sure if rubbing would be an issue with Oe or other suspensions tho. The spacer Of course requires extended lugs / studs. No issues with 265s.

AW, was it touching and that's why you needed the spacer or was it too close for your liking? If too close, how close? Thanks!

I run 275s Hoosier R7 on a 9.5" ET28 wheel in the front with Ohlins R&T & like M2C AW I run a 7.5mm spacer to help clear - would rub a bit without it. No downgrade in turn in here. Could see them possibly clearing with the oem suspension.

The supercar 3R is a good tire. Freaky slick right out of the pits but good performance when they come up to temp. Think a 10 or 10.5 wheel might be better suited to get the most out of them but with the F87 platform it kind of is what it is in the front.

According to APEX's site you can fit up to a 285/30/18 square on the M2. 10" minimum rims. It will require a 12 MM spacer with proper offset as well.

I'd also like to hear back from you on the Super car 3R's. I looked at running the 275's sq on my car as well

My all time favorite DOT R compound tire is the BFG R1.

I'm curious how the new Supercar 3R's compare in longevity/heat cycles/loss of grip, also overall mechanical grip and feel.

So far I've ran 3 sets of the Supercar 3R's on another car of mine.

They are a fantastic tire in terms of grip and consistency. They do not get greasy when you push them hard. They are predictable before they lose grip.

The only downside is that they do not wear well if you use them on the street to drive to and back from the track, especially if you have an aggressive alignment setup, and remember, camber itself doesn't chew tires, it is the camber combined with toe that will get you to go through tires.

As far as wear on the track goes, that all depends on the driving style. I did go through one front tire in a 25 minute followed by a 45 minute stint. This was at a track where the left front tire wear is predominant, and it was a scenario where the first 25 minute session was to set up the car at a good pace, and the next 45 minute session was to drive consistently at maximum pace.

I am a big fan of these new tires by Goodyear. Now trying to fin the possibility of running a 265/35-19 and 295/30-19 setup on the M2C for track use.

Providing my review of the Supercar 3R after a track day a couple days ago.

My last two sets of track tires have been takeoffs/stickers/slicks: Continental followed by Michelin. I bought an APEX Pro in-between those two brands so I don't know what the Continentals could do, but the Michelin's allowed 1.2 g's in the corner. The Supercars only allowed 1.1 g's in the corner. Braking g's seemed similar. (If you don't have a data analyzer, I'd highly recommend the APEX Pro!)

The temp this track day vs. the last was 20 degrees F higher...air temp in the low 90s (and when I was leaving the track, the car said outside temp was 101), so it was quite warm. I started at 28 psi cold all around. After the first session, the front outside had gotten to about 42. I lowered the tires to 39 front and 37 rear. They may have been able to go a little lower, but it's easier to remove than add for me, so I didn't go too far and I didn't think that lowering the pressure would have given more traction (I could have been wrong).

The Supercars were very good from a traction, responsiveness, and limit perspective - more progressive at the limit than the stickers with good noise for feedback.

Wear: I calculated $3.83 per lap on the takeoff stickers - and that would vary depending on the life of the tire left and the price paid (of course), but the way it's looking from the wear on the Supercars...the takeoffs will be more cost effective and offer better grip. I think I have 1-2 track days left of the Supercars before seeing cords.

Who is running the Supercar 3s (vs 3Rs) ? I just installed a set (275/35/18 sq), and expect much better wear compared to the 3Rs, at the expense of only a few 10ths / lap....and I paid a bit over $200 ea from TR with discounts..hard to beat that.

Any pictures of the 275s mounted? Are you able to measure the section width? Concerned it would bulge a bit being pinched on that wheel

These tires are mounted on Apex FL5 Rims 18x9.5 ET28.

275/35 on a 9.5 you'd probably experience some roll over. Not optimal IMO.

I recently completed a day of lapping (3 hrs total time) at COTA on a set of Sc3 Stickers (not 3Rs). I feel they are every bit as fast as R71s. I did post a personal best time By a very slight margin in very hot conditions. I have 275/35/18s on 9.5 F; 10.5 R Apex wheels, hopefully GY will Expand their line-up and offer these in 285 or 295 at some point in the future. Wear rate looks promising, and the price is definitely right on these GYs. They seems to like 35 lbs hot f/r.

Can anyone compare the Supercar 3 to the NT01? Would the Sc3R be a more direct comparison?

Looking for my next set of tires. Loved the RE-71R. Not a huge fan of my current RS4s, but they're durable.

Same. I was trying to acquire a set of Nankang AR-1's to try, but stock is backordered. I'm considering NT-01's as they had been my go-to tire, but am intrigued about the SC3R. Decisions, decisions.

Went with the Supercar 3R in 275/35 for my 18x10 BimmerWorld TA16's. Will report back on fitment next weekend.

I blistered a set of Supercar 3 tires on 513M rims (255/40, 275/40) at the end of day 9. And I got a personal best on day 9 as well (this past Sat). The 9 days were a mix of warm and cold days though. I can see getting 6 solid warm days on this, more depending on driver style. My car is a stock M2 LCI with camber correcting front hubs for about -1.9° camber, and the car weighs 3386lbs with a full tank (without me) as I've deleted rear seat backs, have Recaro Sportster CS front seats, and Akra car back for weight reduction things.

I picked up a set of 3Rs (245/40, 265/40) to try next, and based on what I am reading here, I am guessing I will kill them in one weekend at Thunderhill next month.

Fitment seems to be spot on. No rubbing, even at full lock.

Will get to the track soon for some testing.
