I don't drive it in winter (salt) but otherwise it's fine to use it for its intended purpose - on the road. I doubt it's as fragile as a Lotus, Ferrari, or Lambo so I'm not worried.
Oh man that's not helping my fear of letting someone else drive.

Yeah the car may not be a Lambo or a Ferrari, but it's not the car's performance I'm worried about...it's the driver's ability or lack there of that concerns me. I hope after a while I'll be more comfortable with it and after break-in I'll be willing to go along with a friend or two and let them drive...certain places where speed and other cars are not a huge factor at least

For me it's not that I don't trust people, I just don't trust them with a clutch unless I know for a fact they are good at it.

That's probably my biggest concern. I think I mentioned it before, but I think some people that claim to be able to drive stick overestimate their ability.

Do people really ask to drive your car? I have never had anyone ask me to drive my car? I have had people ask to go for a ride in other cars I have owned, but never has anyone said, hey can I drive it.
But with that said, it is a car. If I am friends with said person and trust them, than yes I would let them. There are so many nannies on this car that it will not go crazy unless you shut everything off. And unless you show them, they probably would not know how to.

I like you guys use switch up tropes when it fits your point.

For instance; "Bro, it's sacrilegious to opt for a moonroof on an M2, this is an exotic sports cars and every gram of weight counts to its handling. Didn't you see that movie Ford vs BMW"

Now it's; "Meh, I left anyone drive my M2, it's not like it's anything special, it's just a cookie-cutter BMW"

Honestly, I'm not calling you out personally but it's humorous how perspectives change, depending on who and when you ask..

My mom burned out my clutch and throwout bearing because she wanted to show me how she still got it and can drive a manual

My interior smelled like burnt clutch for days and it cost me $2,500 to replace it.

I don't care if Jesus Christ returns and he needs to borrow my car to go meet up with his dad, I'm never letting anyone else drive my car ever again..

Yeah, it hasn't even gotten on the ship yet (sitting at port) and people that know it's coming have already asked if they can drive it (in the half joking kind of way that's also hinting/serious).

Ok, this is definitely not helping me trying to be nice and eventually let someone give it a go.

This might be crazy, but you can care about performance/preferences and still let other people drive the car. They aren’t mutually exclusive.

For the record I actually wanted the sunroof, but both my previous F22 and F30 had moonroof problems so I passed on it.

Haha, I don't get why people hate on moonroofs so much. During warm weather drives, I use it religiously. Something awesome about both windows down, moonroof open, and just cruising to the sound of the engine/exhaust.

Like I said, I wasn't calling you but merely using your post to illustrate a viewpoint.

I'm aware not everyone is anal-retentive about lending out their vehicle, regardless of its MSRP. I try to keep an open mind because I realized that everyone else might share the same perspective, on every given situation, as I do.

I honestly couldn't remember if you swayed either way on the subject but it's unfortunate you had a bad experience with moonroofs. BMW usually does them well, I guess it's just not meant to be.

I like to use a phrase that I heard many years ago from the "Gauchos" (like cowboys in my country):

"Lo que se monta, no se presta", so so, "You Don't lend what you ride". (Originally: horse and woman).

Clearly it's a NO for me.

The only other person to drive my M2 has been my wife. She will only drive it when we are on a long trip and I want to take a break. She doesn’t want to drive it alone.

On the F30 the moonroof would creak like crazy. The F22 had a fun problem where it would randomly open and close. I suspect it had something to do with the comfort access, but never was able to lock down the problem.

Oh well, maybe next time.

I've offered drives to family members - my father & my sister both took a turn on my ED trip. Also took it over to show my uncle a couple days after it arrived here in the states - let him roll it over the 1000-mile mark. Wife doesn't drive stick.

I don't offer my cars to friends to drive but most of them are not car nuts anyway (if there was a mutual/fun car swap possibility - just for a drive - then I'd certainly consider it). Only one friend asks to drive it, but she's just trolling me, i.e., just trying to make me squirm by mockingly nagging me to drive it.

That's a great saying. This is one of the best responses on the thread.

Took mine into the dealership the other day because of what I surmise is an amplifier issue... having intermittent sound loss from various speakers. When I picked it up, the car had been driven 10 miles and the steering wheel was sticky with a pretty notable scuff on it. When I questioned them, they said it was standard for them to drive the car for all maintenance issues... even for a speaker issue. Needless to say, I am not happy.
