Total M2C production numbers ? (currently still unknown)

Does anyone have actual annual production numbers (total, or broken down by country) for the M2C?

Just curious.

TIA--

R.

I was thinking about this too. I would like to know total by year, color, manual & DCT.

I would also like to know the numbers, but I’d assume we have to wait until end of production to really know. I still see so few of them around where I live.

Had the Safelite guy over today to look at my windshield and he said it was the first one he had seen. I hear there are at least 2 in St Louis and one in Springfield, MO, but I have never seen another Comp or even an OG M2 where I am.

That's because they all hang out at BMW CCA events. Any autocross brings out a bunch. Like 4-5 out of 50 cars are M2C, and another 2-3 are OG M2.

Yeah, we really should have lined everyone up for a group picture at the PC event a couple of weeks ago. I think we had 5 M2Cs there? One in each color with two LBB (mine being one of those).

Regards,
Chuck

I know of about 6 of them in/around the St. Louis area - 4 of which being you, myself, and 2 other members on the forum.

Funny enough, one of the St. Louis guys did ED the day before me - and we happened to drop our cars off at the same clear bra shop in STL within a day of each other as well after re-delivery.

My car was the first M2C my PPF guy ever did. And he does AMG's, M's, GT3's, McLarens. etc., all day long.

To get that info, you would have to wait until production ends. For example, you can find F80 figures here:
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1551939
But you wont find F82/83 figures since the cars are still in production.
I honestly don't know how rare these cars, wish they had an individual paint option though.

Numbers won't be out until EOP. Funny you mention sightings, I've seen 2 OG's on the road, and only 1 Comp, until yesterday. Stopped by a coffee shop, and I saw my twin, SOM Exec package, his was DCT tho.

Comparison:
  • 29,470 F87 M2 with N55 engine were produced (original M2: 14,858 | M2 LCI: 14,612) (source: here);
  • 34,677 F80 M3 were produced (source: here).

These numbers are surprising. I see more M3's in the wild (literally 2-3 per day) than I do OG/LCI M2's (1-2 every 4-5 months?) but the numbers are fairly close.

I've seen one M2 in the wild and I saw M3s and M4s every day in New York. I do know another owner and my detailer seems to do M2Cs every week lol.

Unless I read those numbers wrong, it sounds like there are only about 7k OG M2s in the US and Canada, which is possibly why it feels so rare here. 7k is not a very big number.

As opposed to about 17k M3s in the US and Canada, plus I bet a similar number of m4s sold if not even more (I see more M4s than I do M3s.)

Ultimately I bet it’s somewhere between a 3 or 4 to 1 ratio when we include all the M4s and the M2 comp cars, but that’s just a guess with partial data.

Yeah which is why I don't understand when people say the M2 is the most popular M car. There's barely any of us, and I know when I picked up my M2C I could get an M3 or M4 cheaper.

My dealer had some new 2019 M4s leftover back in December when I bought my M2, and he even hinted to me that he could make a very good deal on the M4 bringing it close to my M2. I didnt even bother to ask further. I didnt want to open that pandora's box. I wanted the M2C and nothing was ever going to get in the way of that.

Yeah, the fire sale on 2019 M4s was tempting. Now most dealers here have loaded 2020 models. a good 40% more expensive than an M2C...

That would have been very tempting...Not that I want a M4, but I am not against getting a screaming deal on a car either.

I thought about it for a quick second. But I think the M2C just looks amazing, and is the right size. The M4s are everywhere, and just dont speak to me like the M2C does
