Nah Brah, I don't wanna race!

In the short amount of time I've had my car, it seems like every kid in a Subaru wants to race me on the street. I'm a pretty chill driver, so I get a little on edge when I see an STI rapidly close the gap behind me and then pulls next to me revving his engine. I just slow down even more and let him take off 100+ mph. I'm way too old for that nonsense. It happened 3 times just this weekend and all Subaru STI with a kid behind the wheel.

It's just Subaru drivers, they would race a clapped out 1980's Plymouth minivan if it showed interest

All BMWs but especially M cars, you'll always going to encounter some jerkoff on the road with something to prove to themselves; "My POS can beat a BMW."

I don't mind proving them wrong but sometimes you're just not in the mood but they still ride your ass to provoke it..

I've learn to ignore them or humble myself and throw a thumbs-up to pacify the aggression.

Happens to me on occasion.. I just ignore them. As you said, I'm too old to play those games.

Oh man.. Had a Corolla S with straight pipes doing this for about 2 miles Saturday between signals in a busy area of town. Dude was making so much noise zooming ahead, then slowing back down trying to bait me. I started getting paranoid a police officer was going to bust me for "racing" just by association.

Most of the people around here wanting to race are in trucks for some reason.

This!!! I've had my M2C l of two days and was returning home from Denver when a kid in an STi was trying his damnedest to bait me into a race. Dude was making all kinds of crazy animated hand gestures atnme when I wouldn't relent.

Don't just rag on the STI drivers guys, it's not exclusive to other brands; BMW drivers of differ caste is just as guilty as of being insecure, taunting street racing.

Many times I had like first gen standard E92s and E46s, egging on racing.

I roll in the immediate right lane so its pretty obviously I don't want to play. I've learn to read other driver's motives and act in a retreat manner to discourage engaging.

All this to keep some waste of sperm at bay and possibly save him from killing himself, again.. Long story..

I even get it when I’m riding my bike!

For goodness sake the thing does 0-100 in about 2 secs and there is probably not a car on the road that is quicker but all these numpties in their POS want to race.

I just laugh!

Had a guy pull up alongside me late last year at a red light. Young kid in a tuned e92 335i. Was so anxious to race me that he looked like he had to take a shit real bad. Looked at me, gave me the thumbs up. I nodded back with a thumbs up and put my game face on. Light tuned green, tires screeching as he puled away while i changed my radio station dial and drove off normally.

It's not just the STI's and everything is relative. When I am in my E63, I have lost count on the number of M cars trying to challenge me. The M car drivers get even more annoying when I am in the 488. So I am sure some of us here are guilty too when they see an equal or better car on the road and they are trying to prove something. Just simply ignore them and let them be.

I just had a older Acura type R with a coffee-can exhaust, on my side for a mile in decent traffic, kept hitting gas taunting me

I was with my son, my son noticing me get aggravated so he took it in his own hands literally

He opened the window making a "lawnmower pull motion" lol

that pissed off the guy, he deserved it

Btw, my son cuts grass in the neighborhood (13 years old) he's aware how to properly do the pull

Is this normal? I am bit old for those
At traffic lights, if some hothead pulls up next to you and provocatively revs the engine a few times: relax, and when the lights turn green, just wait a few moments, enjoy the view of the hotrod frantically dashing off 'Duracell Rabbit' style with screeching tires + mumble in a serene fashion: "I see what you did there...".

I'm not going to lie...the teenager in me wants to give in to the temptations of having a little fun on the streets with another car, but luckily the grown-up in me settles him down.

I have raced my friend's GTR though. Hehe

(He absolutely destroyed me off the line...I think I may have been in reverse?)

I totally get that; a stock GTR literally feels like a roller coaster on rails. I would take anyone's challenge in that car, just to teach them not to mess with Godzilla..

The most powerful BMW I ever drove was a E60 M5, 500hp and heart-pounding torque but I still feel that a GTR can take it, at least in a strait line.

I hope to own a GTR one day for the sole purpose of scaring the ish out of my passenger

Bravo Nissan

I can recall many years ago I was in my header+ exhaust modded Integra GSR trying to race RX7s, 200SX, 325i...etc

I got real joy in my heart when I found out they didn't beat me by much or at all in the first 2 gears... that makes me love my car even more and want to mod it even further

I understand what these kids are thinking...many don't think they can win against the M2C but they want to know what's the delta

Late at night I once had a GTR fly up my ass, shoot past me, slow down, pull up next to me, pull again and repeat. I was in my M235...

First of all, I'm not interested in racing. Second of all, a gtr VS a 235? Mike Tyson fighting an infant.

Haha! So true! I get the same thing with every car imaginable who just sees an M2 and all of a sudden they think they're Mario Andretti. But like yourself, I have zero interest in racing. Don't need to prove anything. For me the joy of driving is just between me, my M2, and the road.
