Looks like a great build. Just read through the whole thread. My recollection on the cooling discussion on the M2 was the designer mainly talked about shaping the front fascia for maximized cooling, I don't remember them claiming unique parts were used.

I haven't decided if I will go to SEMA this year but if I do I will come by and take a look at your car. I lust over those AP brakes.

1st track day today and pretty frustrated with the several sessions interrupted by limp mode. Suspect coolant temps, even with ambient around 75 deg. Drive hard and pay the price, though the car itself is amazing at the track with track pads....
Anxious to see what the correct fix is for this problem since I don't have the gauges to tell me what's wrong.

That's exactly what happened to me last year. I installed the Evolution oil cooler but haven't had a chance to see if it helps yet. It's incredibly frustrating because the car is amazing on track, but I couldn't fully enjoy it because I was always anticipating limp mode engagement. Hoping CSF comes up with a quick fix.

Crazy to me that a car supposedly designed with ///Motorsport in mind overheat on the track. It's not like BMW didnt' know this was a weakness. The N54 had major cooling problems even before the N55. We are now 7-8 years into production on the N55 and they still couldn't get it right? It's not even summer yet.

I see CSF lists a radiator for the M235i. Assuming that the M2 uses the same radiator as the M235i (shared part numbers), can we assume this is an upgraded version or just an OEM clone?

Sorry for the slow update guys, just been stuck in limbo waiting on parts.

It looks like everything is going to arrive just a couple of days before I am supposed to leave for One Lap. Not sure how I am going to completely reassemble the car plus test it for the first time 48hr before driving it 4k miles....it will be a Herculean effort if I can pull it off. I knew it was going to come down to the wire from the beginning and all of my partners were very up-front about timeframes; this is just the nature of manufacturing and development.

Upgraded variants of CSF radiators can be found here. There is not one available for the M2 yet.

If you do, please stop by and say hi! We will be having some sweet show specials on my company's stuff I can hook you up with (can't say what since I am not advertising on the forum).

Don't see an M2 on the 2017 Entrants List so I'm thinking you ran out of time?

Correct. We busted our ass to get it done, and CSF did their part by overnight shipping my OEM parts back from Asia - a huge expense for them that I really appreciate. Unfortunately the carrier damaged the oem intercooler and radiator during transit despite the fact that it was packed in a damn crate. There just wasn't time to source replacement parts, and to my disbelief I had to miss the event for a 2nd year in a row due to bad luck.

I was pretty upset by this and just took a month off of cars to cool down. But with SEMA looming closer, it was time to get back to work.

Since then, the wheels have arrived, the AP racing rear kit is on, and the prototypes of the new CSF oil cooler and DCT cooler are installed! Let's start with the wheels.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was having severe problems finding 18 inch wheels that could clear the AP racing calipers. It was quickly becoming evident that to fit the type of rubber I wanted to (275/295) I would need to go completely custom. I reached out to a few companies that waffled back and forth on whether they could do something with the correct offsets, until Michael at Winn Autosport asked me to give him the chance to do something special for me. He worked closely with Klassen to engineer a new 18 inch design of their M52R forged wheel.

I want to emphasize how amazingly easy this process was. I spoke with Michael on the phone, told him what I liked and what size tires I wanted to run, and that's it. He worked with Klassen to source a M2 to handle figuring out the offsets, etc for me. I didn't have to do a thing - truly first class customer service.

I am thrilled how these wheels came out. There is zero rubbing with -2.5 degrees of camber in front, and zero rubbing with factory camber in the rear - even with 295 width tires. The design of the wheels is stunning up close, and people routinely ask me if they are 19 inch wheels. They look incredible in person, while giving me the flexibility to run 18 inch tires at the track. The rears weigh 21lbs, which is excellent for a 10.5in wheel.

I am really surprised they were able to make a wheel with so much clearance on the brakes. Keep in mind that the factory 19 inch wheels did not clear them, yet these 18 inch ones do!

Thanks again to both Win Autosport and Klassen for creating these one-off wheels for me.

A teaser of the next update:

How are the AP brakes treating you on the street? Are you running different street and track pads?

I know it's a different car, but I have the AP Sprint brakes on my BRZ. I use Hawk HPS on the street and have used them on the track once and they did fine. That said, I did get some DTC60's for the track going forward.

Any additional noise or drivability issues on the street?

Nope, totally fine on the street with the HPS pads. The J-hook rotors do produce a low fluttering/whine type of sound though. Nothing that bothers me though.

Just wanted to follow up on this thread.

Is upgrading the radiator enough, or is the upgraded oil cooler needed, as well? Is one more important than the other?

Thanks.

I would REALLY recommend the oil cooler as well. You dont even have to do an oil change to install it, it's super easy. Gives you a bit of extra capacity and really helps keep the oil temps down. I have been super happy with the entire CSF package and if I had to choose just one, I'm not sure I'd be able to.

Spring for the whole thing, do it right the first, and then enjoy the hell out of your car.

You will be seeing a lot more of the car this year, it has been torn apart for most of the last year but we are ready to rock this summer!

Thanks for your input, definitely looking forward to more updates. Are there any downsides to the added cooling besides a little extra weight? Does it take longer for the car to heat up, or get heat into the cabin?
