Anyone install mud flaps? Did you go fronts and rears? Which brand?

Look at post #1623 and down. I think they look really good, and would help keep rock chips off the rear quarter. I might swing by Lowes or something and grab a small sheet of ABS and make my own.

It would also keep dirt and other shit off the side of the car, which seems to happen right after I wash it.

Thanks. Searching around I also see these from IND. (I am interested in the interior CF trim kit and the CF mirror caps). These seem cool but I want protection more than cool

Yeah those definitely look more cool than they do practical. You can buy a large sheet of ABS for less than half that price, and make your own.

I have the ones by Automotive Passion similar to what IND offers. They seem to work well and there are zero nicks or chips from rocks on the side of my car but I also have full carbon side skirts to add to the protection.

FYI, I got my arch guards from BAN_M2C the price was similar to the IND ones. I think he has access to other parts if you're interested in some carbon bits for your car, so it might be worthwhile to send him a message.

I have these ones also and the "splatter pattern" on the side of the car is definitely different after installation, with less chunks of stuff (from dirty winter roads) stuck to it.

I didn't like any of the options available and made my own, starting from DeeZee DZ17939 flaps, which are about $17 on Amazon for a pair. They have a nice shape and matte finish, and are stiff enough to hold their shape but not so stiff that they won't conform to the fender radius. I also like this level of stiffness to prevent damage -- if for some reason the flaps hit something, they will flex.

I did a trial-and-error fit on the driver side, then used that as a template for the passenger side. I only did the fronts, but a similar process would work on the rears.

These re-use the same rivet holes for the fender liners, but required different push rivets. Toyota part # 90467-05090-B1 is a perfect match. I do not recommend using the BMW rivets from the liner -- they flare out more aggressively (meant to grip a thinner range of materials) and could potentially crack the paint around the fender holes when forced to grip the thicker layers. I also added an additional larger push rivet near the bottom to secure the flaps to the fender liner.

So far they have been working great and look good. I have a 1/8 mile gravel driveway and was hearing/seeing chips on the rocker panels, but since putting the flaps on it solved the problem.

After going through the fit process I think it makes sense to have the flaps sit against the fender liner and not between the fender liner and the painted fender lip. I know many of the aftermarket flaps do that, but I just don't think it's a good idea for many reasons.

I made paper templates from my flaps just in case I ever have to do this again.

These seems similar to the AutoTecknic CF ones. These are also UK and a bit more expensive. I may go for the AT ones along with a bunch of other things from IND

So here is a list of things I'm thinking of adding to the car. Anyone done these and can share pics or tell me how hard they were to install (especially the CF mirror caps)?

List looks good. I've never done carbon caps, or caps on an M2, but mirror caps in general are a big PITA. Just take your time and be patient and you'll get it. I HIGHLY suggest removing the mirror glass if the instructions don't mention it. The trim kit is way overpriced, go buy a full set of like 8 at harbor freight for sub $10.

For the flaps, I didn't want to spend $100 on carbon ones, and I don't really like carbon anyways, so I made my own. Cut up a $4 black trash can, drilled some holes, and presto, have my own guards / flaps. What you all think? I love them, and I reused the factory plastic clips, so it all looks OEM.

Have the carbon fiber splash guards...one side has bee damaged by maybe a medium size rock or object from the road.

Getting a more durable one to replace it soon.

Thanks. I think the F87 CF caps do not require the mirror to be popped. See the video below, seems straight forward enough. Good tip on the trim kit. With regard to the mud guards, I dont have the tools to cut a piece of plastic nicely enough (sad, right?), so prefer pre-made. So far only seen the CF ones I listed and have seen the British one which looks the same. I agree these are expensive and I dont need CF down there, so I'll keep searching

I thought CF was really tough...Either way it did its job I suppose

I used a knife to cut out the general shape, some kitchen shears to revise the shape, a drill for the holes, and some sand paper to make it smooth, no special tools required. The plastic is only a couple mm thick, and it's soft enough to be easily cut by the scissors. Give it a shot! If you mess up, the can was only $4 at Lowe's.

Not when it is almost like paper thin but I agree it did its job. As a item like mud flap, it is kinda costly to have to replace once a while.

I am not getting carbon fiber one and will just go to the plastic made one.

Good point. What are your thoughts in the CF cap install video? Seem simple enough?

Seems super easy. From my wrap shop days, the only way we could get them off was removing glass, but the squeegee method is WAY better.

Caps were a pain to install. I'll go to my car and take a look, and tell you some tips later.

Okay just checked, main thing that's annoying is prying them off, make sure you start prying by the hinge.
