That would have been very tempting...Not that I want a M4, but I am not against getting a screaming deal on a car either.
Yeah I saw that as well. But in the end, I felt I would always think of the car as a deal vs. something that was built to my spec. That is the exact reason why I gave up on a screaming M2C deal recently. I for one wanted the unpopular choice of moonroof and LBB vs. HS. And even if I were to chose HS, I would have wanted orange stitching. Probably will cost me a couple grand in savings, but c'est la vie...

Seen 2-3 in 2 years while I’ve maybe seen 7-8 OG M2s. Still a rare car all things considered. I’ve already seen more bucktooth M4s…

On the street, M2C's are rare. Although I know of a few that frequent certain locations around Charlotte. A few show up to cars and coffee but M2 & M4 are more common there.

Autocross events are where M2C's come out, especially the BMW events I've been to.

That list is missing 2021 MY. North American sales extended to the 2021 MY.

Grain of salt here, but I have a good friend with a connect inside BMWNA. I asked her to ask this same question and they did respond with ‘between 2019-2021 approximately 5500 M2C were sold’. No idea if that includes CAN and US, or just US. It’s definitely not the year and spec breakdown I was hoping for… I’m sure someday we’ll see the final numbers.

Wow, i'd be shocked if the numbers were that low for the U.S., i looked at the OG M2 numbers and it looked like there were about 12K sold in the U.S. over the first 3 years. I would've thought something similar for the following three years (or maybe a bit less) considering the car got a MAJOR update with the Comp version.

That said, your random person at BMWNA is a hell of a lot more reliable/believable than my random speculation/projection.

5500 sounds about right to me. Very interested to see how the final numbers break out, also by year. I suspect MY '21 was the lightest - not just because that's how these things tend to trend, but because of all the supply chain/chip turmoil in the last year. When I got my allocation in February, the dealers were already receiving less of them than they'd been expecting.

I'd HAVE to imagine there are way fewer '21 cars than any other year. In addition to the factors you mentioned, I feel like sports cars especially almost always do the best the first year and then sales steadily trickle off as time goes on until the car gets a redesign. Unless you consider the Dodge Challenger a Sports car.

Wasn’t 2020 the only full year of production? 5500 would be crazy low.

5500 over 3 years for the m2c would put this into exotic car territory. For reference lambo made about 17.5k huracans according to a quick google search

I'm seeing 17,500 Huracans worldwide though, plus that car has been on sale for 8+ years now. I think the 5500 number was suppossed to be just the U.S. or North America. Still seems too low, but I'm fairly sure the M2 is a lot more common in Europe than it is in north america. If you scroll down to the "M2's per 1,000,000 people" section of the OG M2 production chart, you can see that the (OG) M2 is really pretty rare in America. I'd expect to see a similar split for the Comp.

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1404565

Edit: looking at the OG production nubers again, 5500 for all of North America seems pretty believable. Looks like there were just shy of 7,000 OG M2's sold in North America.

The 2019 model year for North American market started in quantity in May 2018. My M2C was built in 06/2018, and I bought it in Sept 2018. From what I recall though, the 2020 model year production started in March of 2019, and I think ran through Aug 2020, so it clearly spanned a long time period yet was also during the whole covid ordeal.

Not sure I'd call it exotic car territory, but over 4 model years, 2008-2011, there were only 5867 E90 M3's imported (sedans).

So nearly twice as many Huracan's as M2's (OG and Comps combined). And it outperforms the Countach. It isn't just my imagination every time I drive it, it truly is a supercar.

Oh God, because of this thread, we now have the possibility of this conversation happening.
"So what do you drive?"
"Oh, nothing too special, just an exotic."
"Really? Like a Lambo?"
"Oh no, no, something much more rare." "You see, with only 5500 NA units built..."

I'd love to see a final number and breakdown of options and colors, though with just a handful of colors, seat options, and the executive package, it seems like there won't be much uniqueness out of the bunch. Amazing so few were sold in the US if true. My wife has an F15 X5 and we see identical cars to hers all the time (Carbon Black xDrive50i M Sport), but to see another M2C in any color is extremely rare. I've got a McLaren 12C Spider and I may have seen more of them than an M2C, though the 12C only sold 1485 in the US.
