Economical Way to Get Black Kidney and Side Grills?

What is an economical way to get black kidney grills and side grills without spending 500 dollars on iND for four plastic pieces? eBay parts are cheaper but many have fitment issues.

Since the grill surrounds and the chrome piece on the side grill is removable, has anyone tried to wrap them or plastidip them? I am looking to have a gloss black finish, not matte black.

For grill surrounds buy the OEM 2 series black grilled and swap out the surrounds. I bought mine new for about $80-90

I looked at ones on eBay, many have feedbacks that say they fit well as is, but fitment is off if you try to swap the surrounds with the stock ones. Where did you buy yours and have you encountered the same problem?

I did these from IND. You keep your inner slats but install new "surrounds". I went from the chrome to the black but there are other colors. I thought there were very well painted...

https://ind-distribution.com/collect...e-surround-set

I thought these were very economical unless you want to paint yourself.

Gills I went OE CF so can't help there...

You can have both the front kidney grilles and side grille pieces wrapped gloss black for a fraction of the cost of just buying the front piece! That's what I did - looks the same, and obviously perfect fitment bc its still the OEM piece.

I bought original BMW OEM 2 series black grilled. Back then I bought it from Brian Keller at sun motors.

However since then he has left that dealer and they also no longer do aggressive parts pricing.

A quick search online now I see those grilles going for 120-140 now.

Look on bmwpartspros is my best suggestion

Hi there - did you find any economical solution for the front grill surround and side grills? I have the same sentiments too - quite a bit of coin to drop on just a few pieces of plastic. Tempted to try some random china made stuff - but I'm guessing I'll very much get what I pay for.

was there any issue with fitment using the F22 surrounds in regards to fitment on the body and fitment with the existing m2 grills?

Did you end up buying a replica set from eBay? I'm thinking of going down this route but the re-fitment of the original grills in the surrounds has me questioning buying from eBay given I want to keep my original grill with the badge.

Cools - I might just go OEM to save the hassle of messing with poor fitting eBay stuff. Unfortunately cheapest set of f22 black grills I can find is around $180 USD.

Still would be great to hear of any experiences with black surrounds purchased over eBay especially in terms of fitment with the original grills.

Thanks for the links. Unfortunately the getbmwparts site says they don't ship to Australia. Would probably be close to the price here anyway after shipping and tax even if they did.

Just because something is on flebay doesn't mean it's crap replica. I bought many OEM parts there.
