Lightbulb M2 CS Price for the US: $83,600 (plus $995 Destination)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Udpated December 16, 2019 with official pricing announcement (confirming $83,600 MSRP + $995 Destination):
http://www.bmwusanews.com/newsrelease.do?id=3515

I went to the LA Autoshow this morning to see the M2 CS (since I have a reservation), and to get some pricing.

Pricing was just shared with them last night, US base model is $83,600.

I had previously set my ceiling at $80k but it’s so close that I’m moving forward with the purchase anyhow.

Production and Delivery estimates seem unchanged but likely sooner from what they were saying.

My guesstimate was ± $85K as base price for the US (see here).

So it seems that I missed the mark by $1.4K.

And as omasou pointed out $995 destination & handling, actually $405 off mark.

US base price perspective (MSRP):
  • ± $53K (original M2 2016 US list price) + ± 57.74% = $83.6K (± $30.6K extra);
  • ± $59K (M2 Competition 2019 US list price) + ± 41.70% = $83.6K (± $24.6K extra);
  • ± $69K (M4 2019 US list price) + ± 21.16% = $83.6K (± $14.6K extra);
  • ± $74K (M4 Competition 2019 US list price) + ± 12.98% = $83.6K (± $9.6K extra).

Thanks for sharing! Hopefully the configurator will be live soon and we can get visibility into the available options, etc.

This reveal has been so drawn out, my initial desire of this vehicle has certainly waned a bit. Let's just hope production and delivery will still be according to schedule.

Or $11K over M2C if you consider $15K in CF parts and install (heard that approx. number mentioned in a previous thread).

So with 11K it's not bad for the exclusivity 😂

In the U.K. we also get the M Drivers Pack (factory limiter removal and track driving day) included in the base price of the car so its turning out to be quite a lot of car for the money. Yes, it's still a 2 series but wow, what a 2 series.

the front lip is not the same as the M performance lip available. So no one knows the price of the lip because its not out. IND will prob get them. Also hood is not available and the roof is also not the same as what's available.

I also wagered 85K USD based on the currency conversion minus VAT. I also predicted 60k even for the M2C..

Damn, 85k works out to $1,500 a month payment on a 5 year term.. #Yikes

We're come a long way from the bargain $51,700 base price for the original M2 to now probably pushing close to a 100k if opted with CCBs.

Going to be a hard sell. MSRP starts at the cost of a nicely optioned M4. I am going to pass. Glad I got an LCI M2.

I understand (seats are different too but ignore that also). Call it a CS-ish car. All those CF parts probably cost at least $15k and with the wheels you're looking at $20k probably. So not a terrible value but it is pricey.

Assuming most will be sold in FL, TX, NY or CA we can assume an average of 7% sales tax which makes the OTD price at MSRP pretty close to 91k which isn't far off of the 95k euro price in absolute numbers. And usually the absolute numbers between euro and dollars are pretty close.

Idk if the value prop is really there at that price point..

If your main concern is performance, then it isn't. If it's looks and exclusivity, then maybe.

Exactly! You hit the nail on the head.

If you're looking for performance, go with the C8 or even the new Shelby GT500. Or if you're really hardcore, get the M2C and strip it out and add a tune/mortifications.

This price point is primarily to own something "special", which could mean exclusive. But as we all know, "special" does not mean better or value for money.

Many "special" products are just very small incremental add-ons to the "regular" production models. That goes with cars, furniture, houses, any consumer products, etc

BMW M about the price difference between M2 CS and M2 Competition: "The M2 CS is obviously even more sporty, even more dynamic than the regular M2 Competition and it certainly has an increased exclusivity as a special model of our CS family" (see 09:50-10:20 in this L.A. Auto Show video here).

If pricing is true, how could anyone complain? $85k +/- destination included... this is a buy given what it will deliver; wtf. C8 and Ford GT have their respective places just not for me.

Any contender was unrealistically hoping for <$79k base however unlikely the may have been. Same serious contender will not let this car slip for $5-6k; smart move BMW. All said of course I wish it was priced lower.

I'd love to have one of these cars, but it's out of my range at that price. Hopefully they won't hold their value like a damn 1M.

I wonder how much the dealers are really going to sell these for. Didn't the 2016, 2017 and some 2018's go for over sticker?
