It sounds good for sure. What bothers me to a certain degree is that it still doesn't sound any better than my 2009 n54 with performance exhaust. Granted it's been upgraded but I expect stock to compete with a 6 year old motor and exhaust. N54 with PE seems to be the best sounding turbo 6 bmw produced to date. However; I will say I do like how the s55 has a full and voluminous sound, even tho it's not the best tone

I knew it would sound pretty good. I'm curious how the in-cabin sound/volume is. Natural piped in sound loud enough to really hear the engine/exhaust would be nice.

This seems to be turning into an exhaust comparison thread, and the M cars are a lot more than that...speaking of a lot more , the M2 weighs almost like an M3 with manual transmission, which is a huge disappointment for me. It may feel smaller but it's weight is a handicap just like for the M3/M4. BMW has to stop making porky M cars soon, WTF!

It's a bit hard to judge with a compressed video/audio file, but either way, I don't think the sound is anything special, and certainly wouldn't say it sounds way better than the S55. Just my opinion.

If you heard both engines in real life you wouldn't be making such foolish statements.

Stop being butt hurt. Stock for stock, most people will say that the N55T sounds better than the S55. Just like how I prefer the US S52 to the S54. It is what it is.

Expect the M2 M-DCT to feature overrun sounds galore, unlike the M2 6MT.
Listen for example to the exhaust sounds in this August 2015 M2 test mule video: (more M2 test mule videos here) Looking forward to the M2 M Performance Exhaust and M2 Akrapovič exhaust (2016).

M2 sound samples on BMW site
I don't know if it's a repost, but I found this fun page on the Belgian BMW site.
You can start the M2 with the start button. It's interactive so your phone acts like the accelerator pedal. Doesn't work to well with my phone though. There are also 4 sound files. It's in Dutch so I translate.: Start Start and drive away Drive by (3th to 4th gear) Start with launch control. Here's the link for mobile. http://m.bmw.be/m/mobi/be/nl/newvehi...otor-sound.cml |
