ED Battle Scar within 24 hours
The morning after our ED pickup and within 5 minutes of leaving our hotel in Munich to start our road trip, I caught a curb on an intersection median and got this little doozy! (Driver's Rear Wheel)
Trying to just accept that it happened. Not much else I can do, but man what a total bummer! Feel like a bone head, but hoping that trying to follow the Nav maps from the USB stick, not being familiar with the car yet, and driving in a downtown environment in a foreign country, during morning rush hour are sufficient circumstances to prevent judging too harshly. I hadn't even owned the car for 24 hours yet |

Shit happens, don't worry. You will have great time in Europe with your new BMW. Forget the incident and enjoy your week.

Yeah, just enjoy and hit up Keystone or a similar rim repair when you get back!
I'm not too far behind, my big day is Tuesday. |

Curbed two rims on my ED, one due to a non attentive driver in a van I swerved to avoid, or it could've been a lot worse. The 2nd one was purely on me.
My M2 was on the same ship from Germany as a fellow M2 forum member here in Hawaii. However mine took 5 days longer to ship out of California than his, when it arrived in here, both rims were repaired! Hopefully you have the same luck. Enjoy your ED! |

I curbed a front passenger wheel about as bad as yours within the first couple weeks of owning it. Was raining out and I tried slide the rear end out a little while leaving an empty parking lot. Gave it a bit too much gas and turned into one of those median things, where they plant trees and stuff in parking lots, and I hit its curb. Thought I hit the bumper and damaged control arms, but luckily it was only the wheel. Was pretty sad about it, but used it as a reason to buy a 2nd set of wheels, as I needed some for winter. Now I'm more careful and only do donuts and stuff in completely empty parking lots.

Sorry to see. But, as others have said, totally repairable and BMW might even do it for you when it reaches port.
IMO, the worst part of ED is worrying about the car. I tried not to, but it is a completely different vibe then when you have a rental... Have a great trip.

Well you can replace a wheel easy more than you can a painted panel on the car.
I bet BMW replaces it free either before the car gets to the USA or at the port when it gets to the USA. |

I curbed a 666 rim on my previous M3, which also has a machined front. After the repair, it looked perfect. They sand it down and polish it, so if you look REALLY close at the right angle you can tell it was fixed. But even a foot away it looks new.

I curbed a wheel it Italy during ED and pointed it out when I dropped it off. BMW swapped the wheel and I never paid anything.

Go easy on yourself, not a big deal! I did something similar just after I bought my (new to me) E36 like 8 years ago. I pulled out of a parking spot and totally curbed the side skirt (dented it quite bad and never got it fixed...). Always hated myself for doing it, but, life goes on.
