Right turn signal malfunction
I have had my right turn signal malfunction several times now. Most of the time if you turn on the left turn signal it clears the problem. Yesterday I had to shut off the engine to clear the problem.
You get a turn signal malfunction lite up on the dash and the right signal flashed quickly. Anyone have an idea what is going on? I am also wondering if the M2 is keeping the error codes so when I bring it to the dealer they can trouble shoot the problem. Once the error is cleared on the dash, the signal acts properly for a while. |

I have the exact same issue, odd. Specifically the right side, every time I park and get out to check it's working fine. Code goes away randomly or after I restart the car.

What’s a turn signal?
Maybe your M2 is just trying to help you live up to the bmw driver stereotype... All jokes aside hopefully you are able to resolve the issue quickly.

Strange that it's happening on your LCI though...I thought the LED's didn't have warm and cold bulb checks? Guess they do I would just take it to the dealership and have them sort it out/replace it. |

Having the same problems but on the left rear turn indicator. Works now but who knows. Unfortunately with the LCI LED turn indicators... it's no longer replacing a bulb. The car is going in for service in a week. Hopefully they find out what's going on. I'll pass on the info here about a loose ground wire. BMWNA... time to investigate.

My turn signal has worked for the last few weeks. So I am not in a hurry to take it in to the dealer to find what the problem maybe. I know tracing the problem will be hard because the problem is not repeatable.

Experienced same issue with right rear turn signal on my 18 LCI. Took it to the dealership and they found some kind of electrical short. They replaced the whole right taillight unit and the issue has not returned in several months.

So the issue is a faulty tail lamp? I haven't noticed any problems but I don't drive the car often and I just rolled over 4K miles. If anyone else can attest to what the solution was I'd appreciate it. I upgraded my rear lamps to the euro versions with amber signals. So if the problem is the NA spec red signal cars I shouldn't have a problem.

Mine hasn’t acted up in the last month so I haven’t taken it in to the dealer yet. It will be interesting to find out what is causing these intermittent problems.

I previously reported only my right taillight going off, but lately it's been only my left taillight (maybe 3-4x a week). Quite annoying since it's only right after the car has been started, then goes away after a short while driving.
I'll probably bring it in and have the dealership look at both taillights. |

Was doing a Eurotrip in Summer with an M2 and an M6, the M2 was an LCI model and it did the same thing. Came back and my M2 did the same thing. Went to the dealership, got a new taillight unit right away under warranty.
The master technician told me its a problem with the car's grounding that would short the taillight. Apparently BMW has been struggling with this since the E46.

Also did the LCI tail light retrofit so I'm aware of what it's like back there. Those exposed harness wires could definitely become loose or get wet and short out. I made sure to tape mine up before reinstalling them to prevent any moisture from getting in. |
