I keep mine on. I agree with the poster above that in manual it's much more easily tolerated given that pushing the clutch starts the car. The quiet is also kind of nice.

My answer is it's always on while being always off :P
Me M2C is EU spec, so it always defaults to on - which annoyed the hell out of me. So for me... I always drive my M2C in manual mode paddle shifting. Which means Auto stop/start never enables. However, my default driving mode is in M1 is: Engine: Sport Drivelogic: D2 (Note this auto) Steering: Sport Soon after I drive off, I start shifting gears myself. Which automatically does the following: Sets drivelogic to S3. Since it's manual mode, Auto stop/starts is disabled. When I come to a full stop on a traffic light and I know it has a long phase. I click M1, which places it back to the preset. Now the drivelogic is in D2 (auto), auto start/stop engages and turns off the engine immediately. This gives me a far more accessible button to turn on/off that engine start/stop. And a far more predictable behaviour as to how it behaves. When I drive off, I just shift into second gear myself and it's back to the driving mode that I like and engine auto stop/start is disabled again. Alternatively, if you know that the traffic phase is about to end. You can just paddle shift down while it is in auto, which will set it to S3 1st gear and starts the engine and you'll be ready off the line. This works for me because: - I always forget to turn off auto stop/start - on the rare ocassion that I drive full automatic. - I drive manual all the time and it's more fun. - I want to control when the engine stop/start kicks in. - I want to keep my hands on the steering wheel and is too lazy to reach the engine stop/start. - I want to engine stop/start to kick in on long traffic lights phases only. Far to often the engine stop/start runs for less than a few seconds. And as Engineering Explained explained in his video. Greater than 7 seconds is when you reap the benefit. And I don't generally enable it unless I know I'm going to be sitting still for > 15s. |

Off because living in Texas you don't need anything affecting AC performance.
