CF roof is $3k option for the M850

And it obviously comes from the factory,

why couldn't they offer that for the M2C, I bet half of the buyers would tick that option for $3k if it were factory installed instead of subjecting their cars to dealer butchering of the roof and paying for 12 hours of labor on top of the cost of the CF roof itself..

They are made in different production plants. Who knows maybe BMW couldn't make the Leipzig plant ready in time for the CF roof. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered factory installed CF roof for the MY2020 M2C.

Also factory installed options are usually going to be cheaper than port installed

Maybe they did it on purpose as a tactic to sell more the next year...people always want that new feature.

I definitely would bet against it happening. It is going to be a Mperf part and everyone just needs to deal with it.

Well I hope you are right because I would be quite disappointed if they offered it as a factory install next year. I have no problem with getting it as a port install but looks like my car will be here before November. Desperately hoping maybe BMW will surprise us and offer it earlier than November :/

Is the November date hard set from a press release?

Yes, it's date mentioned in the press release for CF roof and fenders.

Got it. I am a week 39 build and doing PCD so hopefully will be able to select the M Performance parts for install when it hits the US in November/December. Do you know when is the latest you can add m performance parts for port install to a build?

Not 100% sure but I think you can still add M Performance accesories as port install until your car reaches the port.

They’re not going to redo an assembly line for a low volume car, that essentially has only two years left in production. Leaving one year after 2019 models. I don’t see the M2C production going past 10/20, when the M4 ends production. The S55 will have officially run its course. My best bet would be next gen M2 gets carbon roof from factory, easier change during plant shutdown for next gen 2er. If a F87 M2 gets a carbon roof, it will be on ultra rare CSL model. They will remove those cars from assembly line to fit the roof. Retooling of the assembly line on a dying platform does not add up for the bean counters that run BMW.

the M2 and M4 are staggered slightly in rollouts...

For example.. currently.. we ARE seeing the M4 CS and M3 CS having shipped while the m2 COMP is just coming out.. an M2 CS (if developed will be right around a year behind the M4 version.. I would anticpate the M2 running slightly longer than EOP of the M4... because without the M2... there will be no sports cars available in the lineup

While the F87 isn't listed , the F22 2er is slated to end production in 2021

Good point!

I do think G80 is coming sooner than people think, with a Comp Package 3 months later.

Well.. don't forget that the 2020 X3M will be out first... and will be the first new M car with the S58...

http://www.thedrive.com/sheetmetal/1...models-by-2020

"In total, BMW M is plotting to bring 26 new models to the fold by 2020, with 11 being full-fat M cars and the rest falling under the M-Performance category "

2020 F98 X4 M

2020 F95 X5 M

2020 F91 M8 Convertible

2020 F92 M8 Coupe

?? models yet to be announced??
---------------------------------------------------------------

2020 F96 X6M

2021 M2 CSL

2021 G80 M3

2021 G80 M3 COMP

2021 G82 M4

2021 G82 M4 COMP

As a MY21. I wonder if they kill off M2C production before that?

CF roof is $3k option for the M850

Once added hood roof and and trunk ( like m4 that have this as standard ) price is the same of m4. This is why they don't put as standard or optional.
