It was mentioned in the blogs about the new TTRS being a threat.

This is something 0-228kmh (142mph) .

125 mph in ~ 12.5secs.

TTRS is priced just above a Cayman S in Europe. So US price could be around 70k.

My wishlist for a CS, 60k with S55 + full cooling even if detuned + competition pack seats + M4 carbon fiber stuff like the driveshaft and sway bar etc. I'd love the hommage style body too, but not willing to pay much more for that or I'll be priced out.

If they do go with the hommage body kit thang, I wonder if it'll be even wider so as to fit wider tires? Lastly would they have a euro option to remove rear seats and put in a roll bar?
Base M4 might be mid 60s (66k) but no one options a stripper. They all get fancier leather, or at least that's the chief reason to get an M4 (apart from power and carbon fiber all the things) from the forum logic which brings it to 69-72k with paint and all that depending on leather options. Don't forget all the crap you traditionally option into an M4 that is standard on an M2. If they add carbon ceramics, forget about it.

You are also not going to get the ZHP seats and carbon fiber for 60k. It could be an S55 only but it doesn't sound like that's all BMW will do to this car. Plus it remains to be seen if you will get a manual, but figure the cost of DCT (since that's what BMW puts in their limited/performance cars) adding another 3k which is a 75k car.

That's significant enough to not eat into M4 sales (why get an M2 when you can get a "nicer" car for the same money with more power?) but also enough of a gap to shoehorn all the performance bits.

I too would be unhappy if it was "here's an S55, that'll be 53k please." Or even 60k. Because those aren't large enough gaps once you get into purchasing this caliber of car to matter. 75k, however, I'd definitely think twice because that's not insignificant. Add an exhaust and a couple performance parts and you have an 80k+ car. That's a lot of money and there's other cars in that range that could be better fits for a lot of people.

Maybe they realize they are already cannibalizing the M4 with the M2 priced at 52K with a lower profit margin so now they will sell an M2 in the low 60s with the S55 and a higher margin?

It was closer to 16s. As reference, the M3/4 get to 130 mph in 13.5s and 160 in 25.7s. At high speeds, the M3/4 will be a faster car.

No doubt though, the RS rockets off the line.

In Canada, the price delta between an M4 and an M2 is about $15K-$20K. Base is only $13K apart, but the M2 comes pretty loaded and the base M4 pretty bare. So, I guess there is a little room to move up without cannibalizing too many M4 sales.... say around $7.5K. But unless you are a modder that is a lot of a hike for 35HP. Plus you have to go with performance exhaust on your S55 M2 to regain the nice sound in the rear.

I believe they will keep whatever new version they come out with, option limited, like the base M2. You pretty much get what you get. I think it will be $75k optioned.

I don't think it will take sales from M4. I think a lot of people will look at the price and say hell no when they could get a nicely equipped M4 for the same money.

You're going to pay luxury money for no luxury.

Too bad everybody is saying the RS is not a drivers car.

There will be another M2 model but whether it will be called GTS,CSL,Competition or CS is not known to myself yet.
The 2002 Hommage car is basically an M2 but with some specific tweaks and you will see spy photographs of M2's although nothing is apparent visually at first it is all underneath.

"Underneath" huh? Sounds like confirmation of S55 and CF parts....

Well if it might be called any of those options, then it ain't gonna be at all close to the vanilla car price. I.E. unaffordable for me. Interesting though because if it could be any of those surely that implies that it has to have a lightweight factor and a power factor. It also implies that this is the only uber version of the M2 coming.

Yes, hopefully it's a competition package for $2400 although I never seen a competition package with a different engine..

My take is

1. First variant will be marketed as a CSL model
2. Priced below M3/M4

I think it will incorporate a few lighter bits, but no CF roof.

It looks like the guy from the German forum might be right after all.The only thing to confirm now before anything else is the release date of March '17.

Will the prediction hold, and kudos to him for sticking his neck out either way.

M4 will get similar treatment (aka CSL )

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...287429&page=14

No issues with the possibility of the M2 variant being faster than the top M4

So where does a CS fit in the model hierarchy ?

Is it above or below a competition pack model?
