9 miles. I put another 6 on the test drive alone. Took the car home that night with 15 miles.

I don't think my dealership was doing anything outside of the ordinary, because they had all of the road testing documented. I've attached a portion of the "Quality Certification I" form that I received with my purchase documents.

I didn’t order mine and it had 10 miles when I drove it out. It was a showroom car that hadn’t even been out for a test drive. After reading the responses, I feel good about why it had the 10 miles.

Mine had 35 or 53 I forgot

Was euro delivery program BUT I didn't drive the car (issue with summer tires in Germany winter)

fu*k face @ the dealer said he prepared the car only? gas and a wash? The station is 1/2 mile away, no inspection sticker needed and the plates were mailed in, where the F did he need to drive? He didn't

Joy ride for sure and some rock damage on my front bumper, after some talking he admitted taking it for lunch a few times

Why he picked my car for joy rides? Possibly because I had to fly out of the country (delivery from the NJ port to the dealer was delayed) came in the day I flew out, told dealer to hold her until a week or so

I came back a couple days earlier than I expected, surprise!

best part was the pre set XM radio station #45 and the smell of tomato catchup in the interior, must've dipped a few fries in traffic coming back lol

I'm in the minority, most dealers don't suck like mine did, but it's all behind me, I'm happy with the car and my son loves it too

I've been burned by dealership so many times, I want to make sure the car is as in fucked by dealership personnel as possible. the last car I bought they gave the keys to an 18yr old kid for a solo test drive as I was signing the papers. I won't even bother going into joy rides and all the other abuse that shit heads throw on cars that don't belong to them.

Is there anything you guys have done to prevent it? other than asking my salesperson to not let anyone drive it?
Wait...they gave the car you were purchasing out for a test drive! Most dealers don't even let you sit in, let alone touch a car that's sold.
Yep. Fucked up. Not the last time they fucked me either.

yeah I guess if you haven't paid anything yet (deposit) it's not a contract and they could still try to sell it.

but in my case, I ordered a car, they have a deposit, that's my car, if they were to let someone test drive it and I found out, they would be giving me the deposit back and I'd be walking. Car does not have to be paid in full for it to be sold. if you can't secure financing that's your problem and if you want to back out of the contract you have to deal with losing deposit.
I have a deposit, I paid when I ordered it. iwas going to go through BMW financial when it got in from the port.

Damn man, out of principal I would’ve walked. That is beyond messed up.

My car arrives to the dealer tonight or tomorrow and I’ve already given my sales associate a list of things not to do.

-Don’t wash it
-Don’t remove any plastic
-Don’t let anybody take the car out
-Don’t fill it up with gas

My guy has gone above and beyond up until this point but we will see. I’ve waited almost three months and would just walk if I’m not happy with something. There’s no excuse when you’re spending $60,000 and have waited several months for an ordered vehicle.

I told my sales guy that I do not consent to the car being driven off lot for any reason. I hope that's enough. I'm kind of at their mercy sadly.

if I get it and it has over 10 miles, I'm just going to take my deposit and walk.

This has been discussed before and that was the consensus or something similar (https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...44&postcount=5). I have a VDC nearby and the local group tours it a few times a year, maybe I'll ask next time. It may be illegal for it to be reset AFTER getting on the ship or after leaving the VDC, I'm not sure. But I do know that there have been a bunch of documented cases of cars with XX miles on the trip and then a lower amount on the actual odometer (like mine!) so this is the most plausible explanation. If it is really the case, I'm sure the dealer resets the trip for most people so you never see the difference.

So this didn’t happen on your M2C?

I have some bad experiences with other new cars as well. The stories are ridiculous.

nope, not the m2c. it was a 2001 type r.
numbered. limited release. I think I had #585 / 2000 or so made. it's been a while so I don't remember exactly.

So I had 6 when I first saw mine on the lot, but this was while my car was under the stop sale, air bag recall. Then after a few weeks when I took delivery it had 13 miles. I did notice it had a full tank of gas whereas before it didn't, and I'm not sure where their detail department is located, but its offsite.

I was a bit curious why the extra miles, but when I checked the average mph on the trip computer, it read 5 mph, so figure it was fine. I'm guessing after the airbag replacement, they probably did a quick drive, then also trip to get gas, etc. I ain't sweating it..

A friend of mine was I think called a "PNR" for a Nissan dealership and his job entailed prepping the new vehicles for delivery to the customers. This included, getting gas, doing state inspection, buffing and polishing, removing "transport mode," ect.

Anyways, he use be able to drive the fresh new cars and take them wherever he wanted, including for use to his own personal lunch breaks, since the customer had the expectation that it would take some time to prep their vehicle.

So do expect a few miles to be on your vehicle when you get it, as it's standard practice the dealership have their own prep team that are allowed time with your vehicle.

There is only so much you can do to control this circumstance since we can't yet order a car on Amazon and have it delivered directly to us..

17 but it was gassed and detailed. I wasn’t ecstatic, but mine had the recall and was told there may have been testing required after the repair.
