A little fun tidbit about how economical maintenance cost is on the C7...
This week I took my C7 to my local dealership for one last oil change before trading it in toward my incoming M2 in a few weeks. I asked the service rep to use syn-blend (same stuff they use in the first five free oil changes) instead of full synthetic. He told me General Motors just recently told them to use only full synthetic on Vette going forward but the oil change price be remained at syn-blend level. So all told, an oil change that included 7 quarts of synthetic oil, oil filter and labor came to a grand total of $47. I can't find a place to buy just the oil at that price LOL |

No, not at all. There had been horror stories of some dealer mechanics that didn’t know better and overfilled with 8+ quarts. Maybe the LS engine in the previous Z06 uses 10 quarts but definitely not any of the current LT engines

I agree 100%, and it is something often overlooked. Porsche maintaince cost is not as bad as it may sound on the surface. Scheduled oil change interval is between 15k to 20k depending on model compared to the typical 5k to 7.5k of other brands. Oil change in Porsche is very easy so if someone doesn’t mind spending 5 minutes under the car to do a DIY, one can actually come out ahead on oil change cost. The added cost - and this really grinds my gear - is that you have to have the dealer reset the oil change reminder or get its diagnostic tool to reset yourself. Takes them 5 minutes to do but get charged .5 Porsche labor hour

Yup, my Cayman oil change was $375 last month.... it's 1x per year for my driving habits and mileage since it's my daily driver. Not fun lol

I've never understood the wide range of prices for simple services like oil changes. It's all the same process: remove a plug, drain oil, replace filter, reinstall plug, add oil. If I take my motorcycles to a dealer it's $150 a pop, every 5k miles. My Honda is $40 every 5k miles. My side-by-sides are $160 at a dealer, every 25 hours. The Honda is the only one done by a dealer. |

Just buy a filter at the dealer for 15 and two five quart jugs of Mobil 1 at walmart for 23 each. Sub 70 dollar oil change even factoring in some shop towels. Done this for all my cars for years. If you want to be extra super lazy and your car has a dipstick tube you can buy an oil vac and suck it out from the top.

I traded my C7 Grand Sport for the M2. My best friend says how can you downgrade? I think of it as a upgrade.
It's still an American POS. I like the M2 so much more. |

Manual. Mine had the Z07 package and the LT3 package. It had all the bells and whistles.. Had run flats. Ride is horrile.
It has ackerman steering geometry. So it skips through and obnoxiously loud full lock steering. Could not even track correctly under full lock. It would not let me shift 1st. to 2nd. depending on speed and load. I had to shift to 4th. Bought the skip shift but dealer said if installed, it would void my warranty. The ventilated seats went out at 1000 miles and dealer says parts are not available. Top rattled over the slightest of bumps. Other rattles here and there. I got rid of it with 1500 miles. Oh, had to buckle the pass. belt when no passenger cause the buckle would hit the side panel I thought the car was falling apart. It wasn't my daily but didn't even like getting it out. Unfortunately it never made it out to the track and I am sad about that. It would have been OK at the track. I also had a new 2011 CTS-V. I liked that more but like another American car it rattled everywhere. That one did make it to the track but heat soaked about 15 minutes into the session. Also, diff. overheat illuminated on the dash. I gave American cars a chance and will never buy American again. Anyone thinking of C7, just wait couple of more years until the mid-engine is introduced. The C7 will take a nose dive. |

Just because a car is bigger or has more power doesn't necessarily mean it's better.
Maybe it's me. I'm still a huge fan of the E46 M3. Regret selling that car everyday. |

Typical of the guys on Corvette Forum that just want to check all the option boxes. BTW, it's "3LT" for the package. |

Thanks for the analogy of another person you never met or all the forums you troll through. I didn't check anything. It was the only manual on the lot. Imagine that, one manual and eight automatics. And the automatics truly suck. The "Ackerman effect" doesn't care is the tires are cold and worthless or warm and sticky. I did mention that it would have been OK at the track. Clueless. |

I'm in a very similar situation. Went from an M235i lease into a 2018 Corvette Grand Sport w/ 2LT and am missing the overall fit and finish of my BMW in many aspects, from the interior to the feel of the transmission/engine, it just doesn't satisfy me in the same way the BMW did. My car only has 1,000 miles on it but I am actively looking at my options of trading in or private selling and moving into an '18 M2 because the Corvette is simply not for me. I went to my local BMW and was told there is no auction data on my Corvette because it's a 2018, and that they couldn't give me a ballpark figure on the current value of my car on a trade in. Would you mind telling me how much you ended up receiving for your trade? Or did you private sell? Thanks! |

Will give that a try next time - they did ask for MSRP and I told them and also gave them the VIN but it didn't come up in their system and they couldn't give me a price on the spot. The dealer doesn't have allocations for M2's until January delivery regardless, so any value he gave me today wouldn't be valid - I just wanted to get a ball park figure so I can figure out the financial side.
