N55 w/ 9k rpm redline!

Figured I’d share this in here for fun, 4N Motorsport has built a destroked N55 (2.6) with 9k rpm redline! Looks like they’ve been using a 135i as their test mule. Maybe they’ll work out a kit for F series cars, would be awesome to see on an OG one day

They post more content on IG for those wondering!

YES - I hope they had the proper headwork and turbo to really support that high redline.

My N52B30 redlined at 7500RPM. I was rolling on a custom ALFA-N Mafless tune by StageFP with FBO+ and made something like 25Xwhp with a drop off past 7000RPM. Still pegged it everytime I had the chance. There is just something to be said about high redlines - it feels and sounds intoxicating! I wanted something like that for my N55, which is why I focused so much on breathing - bigger inlet, intercooler, exhaust, intake, MILVS....But it still revs slow - and while it feels linear, it doesn't have that same rush to redline.

It's a great first step. Needs to be thoroughly stress tested in harsh conditions.

This is also a testament to how overpowered high revving boosted S54s are since they don't require any destroking.

Little update from their comments. They’re definitely stress testing and working out kit solutions. They’re also going to do a 2.4 S55 w/11k rpm and dry sump 👀

They also mentioned 6spd and DCT will have no problems with 9k rpm. Zf8 wont work according to them

This sounds pretty awesome, but likely insanely expensive.

You spoke of liking the quicker revs, have you considered/gotten a smf + clutch? My new one is significantly lighter and car revs faster.

How fast do revs drop? I had a light weight drive line on my frs and sometimes revs would drop so fast it would stall the engine because it didn't catch it fast enough.

I havent had that specific issue. They don’t drop obsurdly fast, but rev up and down change is noticeable. I’ll try to shoot a vid. Bought a camera mount, but video wasn’t that great..Haven’t played enough with mount locations/angles yet..

Ok the DME is still able to control rev hang, kind of annoying how long the DME does it from the factory but at least it's not letting the car drop rpm so fast it stalls.
