Reconnecting Intake Breather Hose to CTS Intake

I installed the CTS Intake on my 2018 M2 yesterday. For the most part things went very smoothly as you would expect. I'm left with one issue however, I can't seem to get the breather hose connected to the intake fully.

I can't get the breather hose on past this rubber gasket/ring:

And as you can see from the image, the rubber on mine has started to break apart from my attempts to force it in.

In the installation guide, it clearly looks like it should fit all the way. Is this really just a "force it" situation or is there some trick to getting this in all the way?

Any update on this? I’m having the exact same issue with mine, also on an ‘18 M2. I feel like I tried pretty forcefully and still it didn’t fully connect.
