M2C Ending Production in Autumn for Europe?
Yikes.
BMW M spokesperson Andrea Schwab has confirmed the news. “Yes, reports tell the truth. Production of the current BMW M2 for the European market will end by the end of the year 2020. For all other markets we will continue production,” the representative told CarScoops. When asked if the next-generation BMW M2 will become available in Europe, Schwab replied: “We do not comment on likely M2 successor models.” https://www.carscoops.com/2020/05/bm...ets-in-autumn/ |

Wow, does it mean for bmw to re think bmw M2 production times for the next generation. Seems like has to do with S55. So could F87 see S58 or it will be the G platform.

I guess this was also one of the reasons bmw stopped European delivery ? it was not possible for the s55 to be on the roads in Europe in 2021 and we know the M cars make up most of European deliveries.

Good, I can't wait..
I've had two different F-Series models and I feel like this generation has run its course. I want to see what a "G" series has to offer, in terms of reliable power and new features. On a side note, it's funny how BMW originally claimed that they switched over to the S55, in the M2C, in order to abide by the new European "emission" standards but now they instead stating that they have to start from scratch, to meet regulations, thus, ending production early, of the M2. : Who do I believe; BMW or BMW.. |

What I can't understand is why now it's an issue and supposedly, the reason they had to cut the production short. One would assume, at this juncture, it would still be fine for at least for another model/fiscal year or so. |

EDIT: https://www.buyacar.co.uk/cars/euro-...u-need-to-know https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe...passenger_cars Funny how BMW is adding iDrive capability to tune the ASD down. Seems like the may need to add a configuration for "aftermarket exhaust" b/c it looks like they may be coming to an end if they cannot figure out how to reduce emission while keeping sound. Guess that those waiting for the G models may look back fondly at the OPF as not so bad. Last edited by omasou; 05-26-2020 at 05:40 PM.. |

New European Emission standards can only screw up a outstanding car. I think this car may be the nexus of the gas engine performance.

I hope all this emission reduction doesn't make bmw tune their cars like subaru, i.e. super lean and prone to knocking even on 93 octane on the stock tune which leads to ring land failure.
I also hope they don't start using super brittle hypereutetic pistons like subaru just to decrease expansion and contraction during warm up just to decrease emissions a little bit more.

BMW probably doesn't see this location for the oil cooler, as a calculated risk, on their part, since physical damage falls under "road hazard" i.e. your personal insurance. Or that's the way my cynical mind interpret things.. I have to say, as someone who likes to have a fast car but prefer to be laissez-faire about having to deal with automotive BS, I'm not happy about that either but its what it is. |

That's unfair to the automakers; it's almost like they are trying to slowly push out the combustion motor.. 🤨 I have my personal opinions on emission control but I will say, at this juncture; the world is already fvcked, we're just adding to it. The government needs to back off and just let the technology run it's natural course. |

And you get BMW's familiar modern twin-scroll turbo four, here rated at 255 horsepower 295 lb-ft of torque. This motor sees duty in the 330i and a bunch of other cars, and it happens to be quite good; all of BMW's crazy powerful M engines steal the spotlight, but this is a solidly potent engine that offers tons of everyday fun. Those weight savings are nice, too. https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/33...u-want-to-know 2019–present A90 Toyota Supra (Japanese A90 models since 2019/international models since 2020) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_B48 EDIT: or the 6?
